7th Grade Language Arts Plan on some form of reading / writing assignments.
7th Grade Math The students will be practicing adding and subtracting integers. They will be using number lines, algebra tiles and the RULES. The students are also reviewing the Cartesian Coordinate Graphing.
Homework for the week:
Name__________________ September 21, 2009 Cartesian Coordinate Graphing · Divide your centimeter graph paper into 4 sections. · Label the y axis and x axis. · Label the Quadrants (I, II, III, IV) · Label the Origin (0,0) · NOW, neatly label both the vertical number line and the horizontal number line. You are now ready to graph the ALEIN WUMP. ***Use a ruler and connect the points as you go!!!!
Now design your OWN Alien!!!! Check each step as you go. _____Draw alien on centimeter grid in ALL 4 QUADRANTS!!!! _____Label, quadrants, origin, x axis, y axis, and scale. _____RECORD your points in the table below. Do not use more than 1 table. _____Have two of your friends try out your points on a different piece of graph paper. _____Turn your entire packet including the 2 friends work on Friday, September 25.
Seventh Grade Science: Monday: Rockets should be completed except for painting, so less talking and more constructing! Tues.day & Wednesday: we will be completing the Mystery Mixture lab. Homework will be anything not completed in class. Thursday & Friday: we will be identifying what an element is. Bring in 5 product labels with the list of the contents. 8th Grade Language Arts Today all 8th grade students will be taking the ACT Explore test. This is not a test students can study for. Plan on some form of reading / writing assignments.
8th Grade Math The students will now explore surface area and volume of cylinders. The goal is to create a cereal box from a given piece of cardboard to maximize volume. The project should begin by the end of the week with a test by the end of next week.
Homework: Agenda: September 22, 2009. Happy Autumn!!! 3rd Period: Task to be completed as a group by the end of class Using the cylinder “net” and the following formulas: · Area of circle = π(r²) · Circumference of a circle = 2πr
How do you determine the surface area of the cylinder? EXPLAIN on your paper. How do you determine the volume of a cylinder? EXPLAIN on your paper.
Now use 2 pieces of YOUR graph paper. Use a compass and create a cylinder “net” that will give you the largest volume. Be sure to have a top and bottom. (Label radius, height, volume and surface area) THEN create a rectangular prism “net” that will give you the largest volume. Be sure to have all 6 sides. (Label all 6 sides, volume and surface area.) Finish at home if not complete for Wednesday class!!! 3rd and 4th period Homework for the week: Write a “texting” conversation between 2 students that has the following first text:
Student 1: What’s UP? Cindy gave us this paper that is 12 by 18 inches. Sooo how do you create a “net” that will have the largest volume???? HELP! Student 2: (Will explain how step by step answering Student 1 questions) Student 1: (Will keep asking questions until the problem is solved.)
This is Due Friday, September 25 and must be word processed. Have one person in your class sign your paper stating they have read your “texting” and find no errors. If there are errors, the person must ask questions, to lead to corrections.
