Week of September 14

Choir - all Brown School Choir members are required to purchase a choir polo shirt. Order forms went home today. This polo will be worn during the upcoming Pops Concert (Thursday October 15th) and during the daytime school concerts in the winter and spring.
Ben needs the order forms and money returned by Tuesday September 15th.

Our theme baskets for the silent auction this year are “Coffee and Tea Lover” and “Healthy Snacks”.  Please send donations for these baskets as soon as possible.  If you have a basket you want to get rid of, we will take those too.

 

Please remember that Cindy and Sharon are using the grade book portion of the Parent Portal and you can check your child’s progress online.  You should have received a user name and password in the mail.  We can see who is and is not using it and there are very few parents doing so.  If you don’t know your id/password, please e-mail Angela and she can send it to you.  angela.parsons@jefferson.kyschools.us

 

On Monday September 21st, we are going to walk to the wharf at Waterfront Park to see the replicas on Columbus' ships Nina and Pinta.  The Nina has been here several times and has been very interesting for students to see.  The Pinta has only recently been completed so it will be new for all of us.
 
We need several parents to walk with each group.  Please let me know ASAP if you can go with us.
 
 
Details:
  • $4.00 per student (give to Sharon)
  • 7th graders leaving at 10:15 and returning before lunch at about noon.
  • 8th graders leaving after lunch at 12:45 and returning at 2:15.

7th Grade Language Arts

Read nightly for 30 minutes

Practice On-Demand this week.

The first of many District On-Demand assessments will be Friday.

 

 

7th Grade Math

The students are finally going to start adding integers learning how to use number lines and algebra tiles and the rule.

Homework:

1.       Integer Poster due on Wednesday:  Be sure to attach the rubric to the back of the poster.

2.      Do not forget to study your PERFECT SQUARES and Multiplication Facts - 0's through 5's times 12.  Mad 3 Minutes on Friday

3.      Anyone who contributes to the 7/8 team Silent Auction Baskets will receive 5 extra points.

Please bring the items (Healthy Snacks or Coffee/Tea items) before Thursday so we can prepare the baskets.

4.      Attend the Open House with your parents.

 

7th Grade Social Studies

Students are working on a packet of questions on Chapter 2 in the text which are due on Thursday.  They will have a test next Tuesday (9/22).

 
 

8th Grade Language Arts

Read nightly for 30 minutes

8th Grade Math

The students are getting ready to explore other 3-d shapes to determine surface area and volume.  This will be leading into the Cereal Box Project.

Homework:

1.       Third Period - Much Ado about M&M's POW due Wednesday (Also bring water to class on Wednesday for the activity)

2.      Fourth Period - Designing M&M Problem with "Dear Seventh Grader" letter explaining how you solved the problem.  This is due on Wednesday.

3.      Anyone who contributes to the 7/8 team Silent Auction Baskets will receive 5 extra points.

8th Grade Social Studies

Homework Tuesday – Read 1-3 in textbook and answer #1 & 2 on the assessment.  We will be covering the conditions prior to the European exploration.  We will have a test on Tuesday (9/22)
