2011 Celtic Manor

Team Delves regained the Cyder Cup this weekend 9.5 to 5.5, preventing the elusive hat-trick and winning the bragging rights until 2012.  Celtic Manor was a brilliant venue, with the Montgomerie course hosting the fourball matches on Sunday morning.  The bookies had a field day, with the so called bankers on each side failing to deliver with notable wins for Lewis & Jameson over Cook  & Taylor,  King & Delves over Tout & Evans and Dunn & Knight over Lyons & Evans.  2.5 a piece overnight with both Captains fairly happy with the over night score.  Next up was dinner and the draw for the singles with Joe Lyons doing the honourable thing and turning out in jacket and tie.  As always the draw itself threw up some humdingers and the scene was set for the Monday singles matches on the Roman Road.  Morning arrived, nerves jangled and after 9 holes it was looking fairly tight.  By the end however it was an all together different story, with Team Delves dominating the singles , to regain the Cyder Cup 9.5 to 5.5.  A great venue and a great two days competition that will forever be remebered as the “the one with the suit”.
