Vilamoura 2012 Report

A record 24 golfers and one non playing ginger ninja boarded the flight to Portugal this year in what was a cracking tour.  Day 1 saw a motley crew fly in to Faro and head straight for Vila Sol where the 500/1 outsider Lloydy landed a memorable win with 33pts. Modest as ever, Lloydy didn't mention it in the evening, choosing to quietly bask in the glory of the win on his tour debut.  Day 2 was a visit to the stunning Laranjal course, lined with Orange groves and beautiful scenery (until we arrived).  Joey Lyons racked 36pts here to take the win and take the lead in the overall competition, the Portugal Masters.  Day 3 we headed to Quinta Do Lago's North Course where we all thought Kinger had won. However on checking of scorecards it was confirmed he'd claimed too many shots resulting in Phil Murphy beating him on count back...chin up Pelican Face.  Last but not least was a visit to the jewel in the crown at Vale Do Lobo's Royal Course and it's famous 16th clifftop par 3.  Touty blew the field away here with 41pts (79 gross) with no 3's or 6's on the card.  All four winners claim their place in the 2012 Champion of Champions and all tourists have been awarded Order of Merit points.  Elsewhere there were the usual visits to Rui's, the Sports Bar, the Irish Bar and one or two others plus the hilarity of Kangaroo Court, Question Time with Marv Foxley and Gareth's love affair with a Ghanian called Alex.  Photo's will appear soon on the Tours page. Obrigado.
