France is our closest neighbour, only 20 miles across the Channel, yet it is also a world apart. It is rich in Gallic tradition with its own art, fashion, architecture, culture and food. The contrasts are immense from the rugged Brittany coast to the opulence of St Tropez ,from the romance of Paris to skiing in the French Alps.

It is difficult to resist Brittany’s charm and to not be captivated by this rugged land of history and legend. "©Guenter Zoufal | Dreamstime.com"

Armorica  is the name given in ancient times to the part of Gaul(Roman term for part of Western Europe) that includes the Brittany peninsula and the territory between the Seine and Loire rivers, extending inland  and down the Atlantic coast-Wikipedia

The region possesses a unique culture, where three languages are spoken, French, Breton - western Brittany, and Gallo - eastern Brittany.  The Breton language is most similar to Welsh and Cornish ,it is said  to be due to the influx of immigrants from the south of Britain in the 5th–6th centuries.
