From the Archives, Winchester Trough with Drinking Fountain Attachment Another from my trip to see the records, this is an interesting trough dedicated to the horses that died or were wounded in the colonial wars in South Africa, shockingly numbering six hundred thousand, and this seems a very reasonable estimate. The young lad with his tin cup seems very pleased to be able to drink safely from this, at the time, innovation in the town. Full text: Winchester ?? As I recall, this trough was the cause of some questions within the association as the inscription was seen as problematic - the benevolent Association membership did not wish to be associated with military actions etc; another request for a trough to be used by 'War Horses' in Finland was turned down. The tool is two parts... one is a driver and the other a depth stop. We used an old valve stem as the pilot on the driver as it is is the correct 7mm diameter.
