Steps to Summer Reading Success

1. Select Your Book and Sign Up
Pick a book that looks good to you and that you’ve never read! Follow the links at right for your list. You should have signed up online for your book in May. If you forget which book you signed up for, the list will be available in the Briscoe office.

2. Get Your Book
We strongly recommend that students purchase their summer reading book, if at all possible. All titles are available in paperback for under $10. As a convenience, students may order books through Banbury Cross to be delivered at school, with proceeds benefiting the Briscoe Library. (order forms at right). You can also purchase any of the books at Banbury Cross, The Book Shop of Beverly Farms, any other local bookstore, or online. All titles are also available at the Beverly Public Library; we advise you to plan ahead if you will check out a public library book.

3. Read and enjoy your book!

4. Prepare a book response.
You will be given a choice of several different responses. Details were passed out in June, and are available here and in the Briscoe office.

5. Discuss your book

In early September, you will be assigned to a one-time book discussion group. You will bring your book response on that day and meet with other students who have read the same book.
