We are Lions

We meet the needs of our local communities and the world.

Our 1.3 million men and women in 202 countries and geographic areas conduct vision and health screenings, build parks, support eye hospitals, award scholarships, assist youth, provide help in time of disaster and much more.

Some of our local projects, recent and ongoing, are

  • Support and sponsorship of many youth groups and activities in the community, including Kidspiel, a curling competition (with wooden "rocks") for school children in April each year, and the Canada Day soap-box derby;

  • assist Canadian Blood Services with volunteers for 8 blood donor clinics annually

  • sponsor, organize, and staff the annual Lions Art Show

  • sponsor a Diabetes screening day in June each year

  • raising $15,000 for Brighton Health Services Centre

  • raising $5,000 as our contribution to Lions Clubs International $150 million Campaign SightFirst !!

  • Assistance with Habitat for Humanity project

  • Providing Christmas hampers for approximately 70 needy families annually.

  • support needy families in times of financial distress

  • Providing equipment, supplies and manpower for ENSS Terry Fox pancake breakfasts

  • Collecting used eyeglasses for distribution to third world countries

  • undertake community projects,  e.g. set up bike racks around downtown and the road cleanup each spring during Brighton's Clean Sweep

  • Support for the VON (over $100,000) including the purchase of vehicles and computer equipment

  • Over $100,000 in donations to Trenton Memorial Hospital
