I have always marveled at the amazing variety of Protein Skimmers on the market that all seem to do the same thing. The basic principles of skimming organics from the water column seems quite simple to me; inject  bunch of bubbles into the water and catch the gunk that comes off the top! With this simplified view in mind, I could not bring myself to paying the extereme price tags that seem to always accompany a "good" skimmer. So... I set out to build my own. How hard could it be, right?

Through the planning stages of this project, I reviewed many DIY skimmer plans that are floating around on the internet and stubled across RandyStacyE's Website. While I did not follow Randy's... I certainly came close!
