Bridestowe Cricket Club Youth Cricket Dear Parents, As you know, we have supported youth cricket at Bridestowe on Friday evenings for many years and have enabled many local children to access cricket locally in that time. Cricket has become ever more popular and the expectations of playing “competitive”, cricket from the children has also grown. In real terms, this means joining a league structure but as you will realise, this is not feasible with the number of children in the village. We have therefore decided at our recent AGM that we will join forces with Lewdown Cricket Club to run U11, U13 and U15 sides in the local Palladium league. All Bridestowe children will be more than welcome to attend Lewdown training which will also be on Friday evenings and some children may be asked to play in the league sides. The cost of the sessions is £1. With the expected increase in numbers at Lewdown, it is important that every child has an adult present that can take responsibility for them to ensure that we can provide a safe environment. It will be perfectly OK if this is one parent who has brought in a car-full of children but someone must be responsible for each child on the night. Lewdown have worked very hard to achieve both Clubmark and “Focus Club” status with the ECB. This is all about providing a safe environment in which your children can learn about cricket from qualified coaches. This is something that we cannot currently offer alone at Bridestowe and we hope that we will continue to receive your support in this partnership with Lewdown. If you are not able to reliably get your children to and from Lewdown, please let us know and we will do our best to find someone with whom your child can share transport. Many thanks for your support over the years and we look forward to seeing you all at Lewdown training nights. Please see the Lewdown Cricket Club web site for details at www.lewdowncc.co.uk Yours faithfully, Charlie Ewen and Mark Fogerty. 07768 991269 dartmoor@gmail.com |
