Albert Einstein Academy Adventure Club
Overview
The founding mission of Outdoor Outreach and AEA Adventure Club is to help at-risk or underprivileged youth gain confidence and self esteem through participation in outdoor activities and presenting them with exhilarating challenges that push them to push themselves in new directions.

In a partnership with Outdoor Outreach, we created an innovative after school program at Albert Einstein Academy to empower our youth to make positive, lasting changes in their lives through comprehensive outdoor programming.

The AEA Adventure program provides opportunities for 13 students to cultivate and sustain healthy lifestyles by introducing them to a variety of outdoor and creative activities.  AEA Adventure Club students participate in rock climbing, surfing, hiking, golfing, yoga, fundraising, community service among other educational outdoor activities.  The program's goal is to foster trust, communication, environmental stewardship and a passion for outdoor activities.

Through their membership, the students develop strong bonds with their peers that encourage commitment to the club and dedication to creating a positive group environment. They also receive strong, consistent support and structure from their adult leaders, which enriches their club experience and promotes a healthy sense of self and accomplishment. Club members develop as individuals, strengthen their teamwork skills and gain micro-enterprise experience as well, since the club must earn a portion of the funds to offset program costs through fundraising.

Student Selection Process:
  • Albert Einstein Academy Teachers & Administration nominate 20 students that would most benefit from this program.
  • Those students are given the Adventure Club Application and Waivers.
  • 13 of the 20 students are chosen by our staff selection committee based on their application. 7 other students are alternates
  • 2 Mentor students can also be nominated to build an environment that helps the group realize their full potential while exploring their limits with peers.
  • Student's commitment to the AEA Adventure program cannot negatively affect their academics. To maintain membership the student must follow the GPA requirements of 2.0 in both citizenship and academics. Free tutoring available.
