Leaf and Flame

SCULPTURES BY BRIAN MEESON

Recent work in Winterstone, a specially formulated cementacious material suitable for indoor or outdoor installation.

Pieces are developed from two elemental shapes--the flame and the leaf.

Work is either cast in a mold, or built up on metal armatures; sometimes, in order to reduce overall weight, styrofoam is shaped and inserted within the armature.

Material can be coloured: with pigments added to the Winterstone; or with acid patinas. Finished surfaces can be burnished, smooth, rough or textured.
