This is the BRF nickname for Yahoo Inc. Mr. Shammi Kapoor is a well known Bollywood actor, who had starring roles in several huge hits in the early 60s and 70s. In the 90s and 2000s, he downplayed his film roles due to declining health. However he continued to be very active in the net community and was known as a pretty tech-savvy actor. In fact, he was one of the first Indian citizens to get his own website and he often managed his own updates. He was the founder of the Internet Users Community of India (IUCI) and a key person in establishing the Ethical Hackers Association.

The connection of Mr. Shammi Kapoor to Yahoo Inc. has to do with a movie of his called "Junglee" (translation: Jungle Dweller or Savage Man) in the early 1960s. This movie was the first film shot in Eastman Color in India. It was a big hit and established him as a star. In this movie, his character famously screamed "Yahoo!" and it became a catch phrase that was associated with him in India. He later went on to use that famous scream in other movies as well. Because of this notoriety, when Yahoo India was founded, he was personally invited to the ceremony by Jerry Yang, the co-founder of Yahoo Inc. and the Yahoo ad jingles seen on TV end with a version of his scream as well.
