Every year thousands of younger women, in which breast cancer is not expected, have
their breast lumps misdiagnosed by their physicians as benign when they are
cancerous. Unfortunately, a missed or delayed cancer diagnosis often results in more debilitating
surgeries and treatments with a worse prognosis. As a registered nurse who experienced a seventeen-month physician-related breast cancer misdiagnosis at age thirty-eight, I can tell you that it can happen to anyone, even when you have trusted and experienced doctors. Refuse to have a breast misdiagnosis happen to you or to those you care for. Do not wait for doctors to tell you when you have a problem, which may be all too late, but know yourself as an informed patient is the best survivor!
