Kingston, Jamaica 24 August 2011 Winching training exercise at the Jamaican Coast Guard facilities A Canadian Forces Search and Rescue (SAR) CH-146 Griffon helicopter lowers a SAR technician onto a Jamaican Coast Guard ship while conducting a winching training exercise at the Jamaican Coast Guard facilities in Kingston, Jamaica on August 24, 2011. Operation JAGUAR is Canada's contribution of military aviation and search-and-rescue (SAR) capability to support the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) and to conduct essential training for Canadian Forces search-and-rescue teams. Task Force (TF) Jamaica is responsible for flying life-saving missions such SAR and medical evacuations in support of JDF operations. The SAR teams deployed with TF Jamaica will also conduct training activities required to ensure the long-term availability of SAR aircrew for operations in Canada. Deploying in August, the aircraft and personnel of TF Jamaica will return to Canada when the JDF search-and-rescue capability is sufficiently developed to meet the operational requirement. L’operation Jaguar est la contribution du Canada aux efforts en vue de mettre en place une capacite d’aviation militaire et de recherche et sauvetage dans la Force de defense de la Jamaique (FDJ). Il s’agit aussi d’une occasion de tenir des exercices essentiels pour les equipes canadiennes de recherche et sauvetage. La Force operationnelle (FO) en Jamaique est responsable de missions aeriennes de recherche et sauvetage et d’evacuation de blesses ayant pour but d’appuyer les operations de la FDJ. Les equipes de SAR de la FO Jamaique prendront egalement part a des exercices essentiels pour assurer leur disponibilite operationnelle a long terme.
