January 8, 2010 ~ 7:00-8:00 PM A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Lloyd Daniel is an
educator, poet, and advocate. His image and words have appeared in numerous
venues, including CNN, ABC, Newsweek magazine, and the Call, the Globe, and the
Final Call newspapers. He's been heard on National Public Radio and on the
National Black Radio Network.
Lloyd, a former member of the Missouri House of
Representatives, delivers an engaging and inspirational presentation that
combines thought provoking lecture on politics, history, culture, and economics
with his unique brand of poetry and satire.
Rep. Daniel served as a professor with the National In-Service Teacher
Education Program of Grenada, West Indies, during the Maurice Bishop
administration. He has held the position of Instructor in the School of
Education and the Department of Social Science, at the University of Missouri
at Kansas City, and in the Social Science Division, at Penn Valley Community
College.
Daniel worked as a host/producer with KCPT, Kansas City's National Public
Television affiliate. Lloyd has produced and hosted numerous commercial and
community radio talk shows and music programs.
He's served as a community development specialist and teacher with Genesis
Alternative School and as Director of the Urban Economic Development Institute,
both located in Kansas City. He has worked as a writer and community engagement
coordinator, in Philadelphia, New Orleans, Los Angeles and other locales, with
the Urban Bush Women Performance Company of New York City.
