At Simply Ballroom, we offer group classes for every level, from newcomers through advanced students. Group classes are a great way to learn to dance inexpensively, have fun and socialize with a variety of partners! All group classes are 40 minutes long unless otherwise noted. You don't need to sign up ahead for most group classes, just show up and pay at the door! Group classes are $8/person at the door or purchase a 10-class card for $70. (ballet, ballroom boogie, and yoga seperate pricing, see descriptions below). Singles and couples welcome to all classes. Beginner -- Mondays at 7:30pm and Saturdays at 3:30pm
These classes are ideal for the complete beginner with two or three left feet! We teach six "core" dances in a rotation: waltz, tango, foxtrot, swing, rumba, and cha cha (two dances taught in each class. You can drop in on any Monday, there is no "start date". Whatever dances are being taught that night will be taught "from the top", so if you miss a week or two, no problem! Most people cycle through the Monday beginner classes for a few months until they have seen all six of these dances several times and are comfortable with the basics. It may seem overwhelming to learn six dances at once, but the dances are inter-related. Most people find they can learn several dances very easily and knowing one dance actually helps with learning another.
Intermediate -- Wednesdays at 8:15pm This class is for students who are familiar with the basics. Most students in this level have danced for 6 months to a year. Bronze II/III level patterns and technique are introduced in this class. Intermediate classes are taught in 2 or 3-week series. You may drop in to any class, but we recommend attending the entire series since each class builds on material taught in the previous class. Advanced -- Thursdays at 6:15pm This class is for students who have a working knowledge of Intermediate level material. Ideal for people who have danced for 2-3 years or more. Bronze IV/Silver level material will be introduced in this class. Classes at this level are taught in 2 or 3-week series. You may drop in to any class, but we recommend attending the entire series as each week builds on concepts introduced in the previous week's class. Variety Classes -- Wednesdays at 7:30pm These classes cover dances not taught in the regular rotation (example: West Coast Swing, Argentine Tango, Hustle, etc.) Variety classes are taught in 2 to 4-week series, so it is best to attend the entire series since each week builds on material taught the week before. These classes are open to dancers at any level, but some dance experience is helpful. Salsa -- Fridays at 7:15pm This is a fun class suitable for all levels! New students will be introduced to the basics and more advanced students will learn some fun new patterns. Competition/Performance Class -- Tuesdays at 6:00pm and Saturdays at 12:30pm Pre-enrollment/audition only, no drop in students. This class is for the more serious student who desires to improve their technique through learning competition/performance routines in various dances. Suitable for dancers at the Bronze II and above level. You do not have to participate in competitions or performances to join this class, although we do offer several opportunities throughout the year for students who wish to perform and/or compete locally and nationally.
