About the Contest

Unfortunately the contest will not be running this year.

We hope to have a committee in place for the 2013 contest.

The first Brandon Highland Festival took place over 35 years ago.  The original organizers were Jimmy Reid and P/M Alex Cupples.  Their vision was to host a solo and mini-band competition that would encourage children to learn the pipes and drums.  To this day, the contest's focus remains on young competitors, and Mr. Cupples continues to be an overseer of the weekend's events.

Over the years, the Brandon Highland Festival has grown.  The Festival is a champion supreme contest sanctioned by the Prairie Pipe Band Association of Manitoba.  It now averages 200 participants that travel from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and North Dakota.
