Clear QAM

What is clear QAM High Definition?  Print this Page

“Clear QAM" is similar to basic cable, but in digital form. The channels are not scrambled or blocked.  They are unencrypted. Some channels may be SDTV (standard definition, and some may be HDTV (high definition).

What equipment do I need?

Clear QAM Tuner
A clear QAM tuner is a digital tuner built into most HD televisions.  Refer to your instruction guide to see if a QAM tuner is installed.  The QAM tuner allows free reception of unscrambled digital programming sent “in the clear” by GateHouse Networks.

Splitter (optional)
If you have a GateHouse DSR-470 digital box, you will need to split the signal.  The DSR-470 does not have a clear QAM tuner.  See diagram 2.

What programming will I receive?

GateHouse delivers the following programming to the Braemar community:

Note: Some older televisions will pick up the QAM channels on the following channels:

How do I receive the channels?

Use the diagrams below to make sure your connections are correct.  Then perform an automated channel search using the auto program feature on your television to pick up the channels.  Please refer to your television instruction manual for details.  Most channel scan features are under the MENU or SETUP option.  Be sure to scan using CABLE TV mode and not OFF-AIR mode.
