DAY 3 - FRI JUL 30, 2004 early morning (VERY early - like 6:00AM early..sheesh) MARRIOTT GRIFFIN GATE HOTEL Lexington, KY Yes, I have to admit, I got up at the ungodly hour of 5:00AM because I wanted to see just *WHO* would show up at that hour..! And as I walked out of the Holiday Inn and headed over to the Marriott, there stood Peter Stone in the Marriott parking lot - looking like a beacon of light in that white hat of his - guiding and beckoning us sleepy-eyed, but hard-core collectors to part ways with our cash so early in the morning. And yes, there were indeed some people who showed up in their furry bunny-rabbit slippers, hair curlers, and favorite fuzzy pajamas! That`s Elaine Stone standing in her housecoat in the middle of the photo, cheering us on and congratulating the early birds for showing up on time! *lol* Incidentally, the pajama party was held indoors (instead of the parking lot) because of the impending threat of rain. Peter Stone kept the crowd amused with his banter and jokingly said that next year`s PJ party would be held from 3:00AM - 6:00AM *lol*. I think he was just as surprised as I was to see so many people already lined up and waiting at 5:30AM!!

I collect antique photographs of a strange turn of the century custom. Women would gather, dressed in their jammies, and have a professional photographer on hand to document the event. The photos are generally taken in the parlor, note the piano on the left. I found two such photographs at an estate sale and cannot wait to frame and add them to my collection!
