Joshua, who is 2, has a blanket that I made for him. Since he was an infant he has loved the feel of cloth in his mouth, so I designed his quilt to have pieces of fabric that pop up for his chewing pleasure. Ironically enough it wasn't these intricate details that caught his fancy, but the felt stars affixed to one of the fabrics I had chosen. Now whenever he is excited, frustrated or sleepy he scoops up his blanket, locates a star and bites down hard. These are memories that I will always adore and keepsakes that I will always treasure. I can only hope that the blankets that I make for others brings as much joy to them as well. |
