Start of Day 2. 4 guys opted for the single track on the East Fork Trail. Myself, Jimmy, and Tim opted for the more direct route. In the group going to the East Fork Trail, Alan's seat post quick release broke. After trying to repair it for an hour, Alan decides he cannot continue with the seat that low and opts to ride downhill back to the resort to get it fixed. He will get a shuttle and meet us on day 3. Tim, Jimmy, and I make it to the hut about 4pm - but without the key! We build a campfire and wait for about 2 1/2 hrs until the second group arrives. Tim's derailer housing breaks, leaving him with only 3 gears for the long uphill ride. We took our time, rested in the shade when we found some, and tried to ride during cloud cover. It was hot!

i realized i haven't posted any pictures of my beloved squeakmachine. squeakmachine is the name of my bike because it is squeaky. it is quite functional, though, and i recently tightened up the brakes to get ready for winter. this was taken after the first winter weather of the season, during which squeakmachine was locked under the damen el stop and became completely encased in ice. starting today, it's supposed to snow for five days straight. i have an enormous down coat and i am excited. i am going to keep biking: the mountain bike tires work pretty well for traction on icy roads.
