ok..goofy picture...but hey, whats new? :) I was tagged by Amber!, so here are my ten things! Hopefully I can come up with 10 things! :) 1.I’m an only child, and always thought it’d be nice to have a brother, but I’m blessed to have a large ‘network’ of family. A lot of the time I say I have 4 families. My own, and I’m pretty much adopted into 3 others. Our 4 families have known each other for a long time, reaching back into my mom & dad’s teen years. And I’ve made the mistake of calling some of those ladies ‘mom’ many times. 2.I have an immense fear of failing and of not being good enough. I worry too much about little things, and I can’t let go of some things easily. I hold in my fears of failing, and all those bad things; and try my hardest to put up a happy face for everyone. I feel that everyone and especially those I love deserve my absolute best, but my fear of not being good enough in some areas, even the areas that I can’t help, sometimes overwhelms me. 3.I’m a lefty! There’s only two in my family. Everything I do is ‘backwards’ to everyone. Things can get crazy in the kitchen with my mom and me, where we are backwards from each other. I even make my check marks and “&” signs backwards! I don’t really think this is because I’m a lefty; I just do. And trust me, it gets noticed a lot at school. And by being a lefty, this has caused me to be creative in ways to ‘adapt’. If you think it’s not sometimes hard to be a lefty, try doing everything left-handed. Scissors, can-openers, notebooks, ice cream scoops with the handle-thingy, even manual cars are made for right-handed people. (not that I’m complaining, I actually love being different) 4.I realllllllyyy want a bloodhound puppy. Or really, just a dog in general. But my mama is not going for that idea. (I tried to ask for chickens too, but that backfired, and I also tried asking for a cow. Haha I’m not having much luck in the ‘pet’ area.) 5.I would absolutely love to live in the middle of nowhere on a farm. Or just a farm , period. One day I will. (you can write that down ;)) 6.I love playing piano. I’ve been playing for around 15 years. Actually, I think it is 15 years this month. Though I am not amazing at playing, it calms me, and I enjoy playing hymns most of all. And I love singing! 7.Bluegrass music is my favorite. Bluegrass, Bluegrass gospel, and old (90s and older) country music is what I grew up on, and it’s all I listen to. I range from CW McCall, to Diamond Rio (which is my favorite band), to Bill Monroe, to David Alan Coe and lots more. 8.Most people think I am very quiet. I usually keep to myself, and don’t talk a whole lot, but really, most times my parents can’t get me to hush. But, I’ve always heard ‘you have to watch the quiet ones’ ;). As well as being quiet, I can be very strong-willed (as well as stubborn). If I say I’m going to do something, you can bet your bottom dollar I will do it. 9.I am a great deal like my daddy. Most days, mama will call me Steven at least once. Most of the time, I can finish his sentences, sometimes it’s scary how much we think alike, or say the exact same thing at the exact same time. Usually at that point, mama just rolls her eyes and walks away ;) But I wouldn’t want to be like anybody else! I look up to my daddy so much, and am so proud of him, and glad to be called his daughter :) 10.I’m a thinker, and a tinkerer. I can be very crafty and imaginative. I think in details, and usually not the big picture. Making and working on things is the best way that I learn. I think this is part of the reason why I want to be a teacher. I love knowing how things work, and how they go together to make the bigger thing. I can take anything apart, but it’s the getting it back together that can be fun.
Angelina
Angelina
Funny story. I had been antsy to get out and grab some of that gorgeous light that comes when storm clouds break up. But with Christmas dinner and visiting, I just had to wave at it from the kitchen window. As I was passing the front door right at about dusk, I noticed our cat Timmy in a perfect silhouette sitting just outside the doorway. Just at that moment our neighbors Christmas lights clicked on across the street. I knew this was the moment and I needed to seize it. I grabbed my camera and slithered down on my belly in the front doorway and as Timmy gave me his best profile pose I clicked my shutter, only to hear the familiar sound of the beeping timer I had set last night. SHOOT! What kind of photographer am I? Get it together! I sit there for 10 seconds, which, much like Inception, is like a whole minute in photography time. Timmy has now begun to lick himself and the moment is lost. Oh wait. God thank you for a second chance! He looks right at me and I snap away, I check my LCD screen to see if my settings are good and I see "DEMO" ...which translated into English means, "You're screwed, you forgot your card, IDIOT". FLIP! Now I'm really feeling embarrassed for myself. I get up. Off my belly. Walk into the next room and grab my card from the tower and get back to the front door. Timmy is miraculously still sitting there! I get back down on my belly and just as I get ready to get the shot he darts over me in what was an impressive backward scissor-kick-summer-salt. What the..? Then---I see "her". She is sitting in the garden. Timmy has obviously met her before. She is a cat with an attitude. She is known as Angelina, she lives in the garage and is VERY NON SOCIAL (to put it politely). She is a beast. HUGE. And quite the scrappy fighter too. But to me, she is a love-bug. Still, she is no pushover. I beg her to come into the walkway where the Christmas lights would be right behind her, giving me the perfect light bokeh. Puleeeeease???..... but she just sits there like Gloria F***ing Swanson. So. We play a game of who is gonna come to who. I am on my belly making kissy sounds and trying to coax her out of the garden. The storm clouds are darkening and I decide that I shall be the bigger person. Me in my leopard pj's, crawling on my belly, making kissy noises, crawling out my front doorway. She gives me the look. The look that says "I'm ready for my close-up." Merry Christmas!
