What is Suomi-koulu?

Finnish School of New England was founded in the spring of 1991 serving the greater Boston area.

The purpose of the school is to:
  • teach and perpetuate the Finnish language,
  • provide information about Finland and Finnish culture,
  • maintain Finnish traditions among Finns living in the New England area.
The language classes meet generally on Saturdays twice a month in Greater Boston area. During
the two hour school day, Finnish is the language of choice in children's classes.

Christmas and Spring Parties wrap up the fall and spring semesters. Omppu is the official newsletter of the school.

The operation of the school depends largely on voluntary activity. In addition, the Ministry of
Education of Finland, and both Finnish and American companies and organizations support
Suomi koulu with donations.
