Welcome! Allow me to introduce myself, I am Nicolae Borota.  I consider myself to be a mathematician, educator, innovator, and dreamer. For two school calendar years (2009/2010 and 2010/2011), I have been working on an exciting NEW project that is called the INTEGRATED STUDIES PROGRAM. I am now the Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction in the areas of Mathematics and Science. Part of my responsibilities will be overseeing the Integrated Studies Program. This is something that I have wanted since the inception of the program. In the program, I was part of a team of 5 teachers who guide 100 students in a Project-Based Learning Environment. All of the teachers are in the same room all day long. Not that different from traditional, you say?? Well, the teachers are all in the SAME ROOM at the SAME TIME. This allows them to communicate and collaborate with each other in the classroom. This is a one-to-one computing environment and programs such as Moodle and Project Foundry are used to deliver content. The students are encouraged to use email, instant messaging, wikis, blogs, chats, and yes EVEN THEIR CELLPHONES in class. They learn how to use the tools that we all use in the real world outside of the confines of traditional schools. The room is a converted shop room (used to be an old masonry room), which was renovated to become the Integrated Studies Program facility.
