Agility Fundamentals

This is where it all starts. Any dog 16 weeks or older is welcome to play. No age limit. Classes will include teamwork building, puppy gymnastics, body awareness skills, targeting and focus work. This is a fun class where your dog will love to learn new skills. Dog agility is open to all breeds of dogs of all sizes.

 

Agility I

This class is for graduates of Foundations or through pre approval of instructor. We will focus of advanced plankwork, weave pole entrance training, continued confidence training over obstacles and positional training on contacts and much more. We will also begin to lay down the foundation of handling through recall to heel exercises.

 

Agility II

This class will be a continuation of obstacle training. Classes are progressive from week to week. Jump training will begin via 1 jump work and progress to the 6 positions at a jump that is the foundation for handling. Short sequences may be implemented.

 

Intermediate I

This is the “tweener” class. The dogs may still be progressing through their obstacle training including but not limited to; independent obstacle performance, weave pole training including entrances and full sets of poles. Jump sequences will continue with skill sets that include the 6 positions at a jump(s).

 

Intermediate II

This class is for dogs that have completed the Intermediate I class or through pre approval through the instructor. Short sequences will be continued and obstacle training will continue with an emphasis on the dog’s understanding of the obstacles with exercises to test these skills that will include proofing performance understanding. Skill sets will be used to give your dog an understanding of running a full course.

 

Advanced Handling

For dogs who are doing full height obstacles and closed weave poles. This class is for the teenage dog who may or may not be ready for the competition ring. Advanced skill sets will be implemented. Class focus will be lead outs, handling strategies, problem solving with an emphasis on proofing and working with distractions.

 

Competition Handling

For graduates of Advanced Handling and/or through pre approval of instructor, dogs should be “competition ready” and have no obstacle/focus issues. Excellent/Masters level skill sets will be implemented. Building of skills including but not limited to crosses and turns, continued proofing of contacts/start lines/weave poles.

 

Course night

Course night is just as it says, a night of running courses. No “formal” instruction will be given but some guidance is available. Dogs should be running sequences and near to full height equipment and weave poles. Adjustments may be made. 2 courses of varying difficulty will be set as well as all 3 contacts. Rewards such as treats and toys are always welcome.

 

Puppy Kindergarten

Class will consist of socialization skills, basic obedience, focus training, recalls and general handling skills. Puppy K is where you want to start with any new puppy while you still have a “blank slate”. Learn to channel your dogs energy correctly while having fun. General puppy raising questions will be addressed. This is not an agility class but will get you prepared if you wish to continue.
