Mary Champagne started training in agility in 1994 when it was in its infancy. She started training in agility with mixed breed dogs (her favorite breed but she loves 'em all). Mary has trained 2 Chow mixes, 2 BC's, 1 Pomeranian, 1 Cattledog/Terrier mix, 1 Cattledog, a Jack Russell. She has been competing since 1996 and has gone to 5 National Championships. She made the finals twice with 2 of her dogs and made semi finals at the USDAA (United States Dog Agility Association) World Games.
Mary’s Pomeranian was in the top 15 in the world in 2005! She was also the first Pomeranian to achieve her Tournament Master Silver Award! She also brought home a 2nd place medal at the World Games held in Scottsdale, Arizona in 2005! She would have continued to shine but had to be retired from agility due to injury. She continues to enjoy hiking, swimming and the occasional agility demo. She loves to be cheered on and her fans love her. Bug Bug, a rescued Australian Cattle Dog, is a rising star! At only 2 ½ years old, she is now in Masters level classes and has qualified to go to the USDAA world games in Arizona! Mary started teaching Agility around 1998 with a small dog obedience school and then went to SNEAK Agility Club and started teaching for them where she stayed for about 6 years. She also taught for My Dogs Place in Mystic, CT for several years before starting her own business. Mary enjoys teaching dogs and their owners and gets a great satisfaction watching the relationship between dog and handler grow and when the Team is born. Any dog can play agility regardless of their breed, age or size. Pups should be at least 16 weeks to begin and there is no age limit. To date, Mary’s oldest dog in beginner class was 10 years old. Her oldest dog in any class to date is 13! Born to Run Agility Team or B.R.A.T. is located at Diamond Run Farm on Prospect Hill Rd in Colchester, CT. |
