Original Works - Pieces that are completely my own. Remakes - My interpertations of pieces that I'm fond of | Although I have my own server and can manually create pages, I figured I'd try out Google's new Page Creator with this subject. About my music: The creation of these pieces stretch from 1998-2007. The recordings are of differerent qualities and, in my mind, I went through several different "types" of compositional styles. I often don't give my songs any names - something that I've been doing for many years now. I'm not sure why. You may notice that some pieces are Myst-like. One of my major inspirations was the soundtrack of the game Myst. When I listened to the music, I could tell that they didn't use real instruments, that they used synths, but they somehow achieved an amazing atmosphere with such a simple set of instruments. I realized that since these instruments were things that were available to anyone, anyone could create amazing sounding music. All they needed was the imagination and music ability (but that didn't really occur to me at the time... I just thought I could do it and the only thing holding me back were the sounds that I used; what music I create seems to actually be based around what sounds I'm using, as the sounds seem to inspire me). The feeling of ambition and freedom that such a realization gave me led me to go get my first synth. The first thing that I did on it was recreated the Myst theme by going back and forth between the keyboard and the stereo and playing it into memory using the keyboard. That was in 1998. Before that, I'd played with music a bit, but not much. Then I created Song1 and Song2. Everything up until Song7 is from the same era. Beginning with Song8, I discovered proper use of Soundfonts and a sequencer. Song8 was the first "proper" piece of music I'd created. Ending somewhere around Song10 or my long lost song piece, I'd lost that feeling of newness and ambition when making music, and I feel that to this day, everything that I create has never been the same. Throughout all of these pieces, you'll find many imperfect and experimental things; many are not in presentation form, and many are just simply "ideas." I don't aim to give you the best impression of what I've written; I aim to give you an overview of what I've tried, and that includes crazy, incomplete, improperly recorded/played. Everything here is literally everything I've written that has some substance to it. |
