How to use this page:
Tunes are classified in the third column (status) as Standard, Learning or Proposed. The Standards tend toget played in the first half of each evening. Some of the Learning tunes may get played later in the evening. The proposed Tunes might pop up. If we like them they progress in status. You can sort the tunes by their status or name. Sight readers: The notation is provided for each tune in for C instruments and for Bb instruments (mainly clarinet). You can download individual tunes, or all the Standard tunes in the one pdf document. Bear in mind that the notation doesn't convey the nature of some tunes. It is worth listening to the links on this page. Collections of the tunes in pdf booklets can be found on the Tick Tock Tune Books page. If you are after more than a few tunes, this will be a more efficient option. Those who learn by ear: Links are provided to versions of most tunes played by competent musicians of the genre. The ABC notation for the tunes is available in one file here (22 Oct). If you don't use ABC and tools like ABCedit and ABCmus, you really should start. You will not regret the minimal effort of learning as it will open up a wealth of transcriptions is many genres of music. If you learn by ear the abc notation can be a great help. The tunes can be played using a number of pieces of freeware or shareware software. I use ABCEdit. The intimidated: Listen to some of the recordings of our 'sessions' (Tick Tocks). You won't feel intimidated after that! Find an error?
The tune transcriptions will have errors in them. Any peer review and editing of the notation and abc files would be appreciated. Send amended abc files to ticktocks (at) fastmail (dot) fm |
