Cottage on Blake

The Cottage has a 20 x 20 bedroom;
a newly-renovated (but simple) bathroom and kitchen equipped with all the basics; a beatiful entry room; and a 22 x 22 livingroom with 16-foot vaulted ceiling, dining nook, loft space, and many large windows. It looks out on a field with hills in the distance; a lily pond; and a rocky hill. It is a private 150 feet from the owners' home, and protected by mature trees and a privacy fence. It backs onto 16 acres of woods owned in common with neighbors (guests are free to walk there), and shares 22 pastoral and wooded acres with the owners' home, on which there is a small swimming pond available to guests. Basic amenitiesThe bedroom has a queen size bed, and the livingroom has a fold-out double futon couch. We provide linens, towels, and blankets. The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, pots, pans, dishes, flatware, a toaster oven, and a small coffee maker.There is a television with a dvd and vcr. There is excellent cell phone reception.

Beyond the basics: For an optional "comestible fee" we will provide a start-up quart of raw milk, stick of home-made butter, dozen eggs, and loaf of fresh bread -- all local, all fresh and all delicious. In season, we add fresh local fruit.


Things the cottage does not have: 
               There is no channel access for the television; there is no land phone; there is no dishwasher; there is no microwave; and there is no air conditioning.

 
This cottage is a reader's paradise: a large and eclectic collection of books nestles itself into corners of every room.
 
Rates:

Weekly ($600) and monthly ($2000/four weeks) rentals preferred; other options available by inquiry.
Additional guests: $25/night for each guest beyond the first two on short stays; $50/week for each guest beyond the first two on weekly and monthly stays.
Optional comestible fee: $35
County tax: 5%
October - April a heating surcharge may apply.
