Book Software MMS.zip

On this page, you can download MMS-V2.zip (see below). This file  contains the programs and examples from:

K. Velten, Mathematical Modeling and Simulation, Wiley-VCH, 2009

Besides an introduction into the fundamental concepts of mathematical modeling and simulation, this book and its later editions will also provide up-to-date open source so
ftware solutions for mathematical modeling. MMS.zip will thus be continuously updated and improved, and the latest versions can always be obtained on this page. Future versions of MMS.zip will include a discussion of relevant new open source software in the field of mathematical modeling, i.e. MMS.zip will also be used to keep the readers up-to-date and to bridge the gap between the book editions.

Version 2 of the Book Software (released May 1st, 2010): MMS-V2.zip
Version 2 of the Book Software Manual: MMS-V2-Manual.pdf
Workarounds for some known problems (April 24, 2011): MMS-Workarounds.pdf

New in Version 2:
  • CAELinux and the entire book software ranging from elementary statistical methods to 3D finite-element software can now be used "virtualized" in a window of your original operating system (Windows, Mac, Linux...)
  • 3D CFD, structural mechanics, general PDE's  etc. using OpenFOAM: a simple example demonstrates how the fantastic capabilities of OpenFOAM and ParaView can be used comfortably within CAELinux
  • Discussion of new experimental design software: many methods such as full factorial designs, orthogonal main effects designs, regular and non-regular 2-level fractional factorial designs, central composite and Box-Behnken designs, latin hypercube samples, Taguchi's method etc. can be accessed as a part of a comfortable new DOE plugin in the R-Commander; software for computer-generated D-, V- or A-optimal designs is also discussed
  • All Maxima programs have been simplified (simplified initialization commands etc.)
  • Errors reported by the readers have been removed ;-)
