Congratulations League Champions: Latest news (11/11/02): I have received an email stating that the San Francisco Tsunami has cancelled the remainder of their season. Arizona will take the #4 spot in the playoffs and will face the SunFire, who have clinched the #1 spot, in San Diego on Dec 7th. News (9/14/02): The Sacramento Gold rush is out; for whatever reason they will not be able to field a team this year. A new schedule has been redrawn with the five remaining teams. The start of the season has been postponed until Sept 21 to accommodate the revised schedule. The season runs from Sept 21 through Nov 23, with playoffs on Dec 7th and the championship on Dec 14th. Four of the five teams in the AFWL will make the playoffs. The American Women's Football League is formed from teams departing the WAFL. Other teams leaving the WAFL have formed the WAFC and the WFA. The Arizona Titans, under Byron Autry's ownership, have been added to the AFWL. Originally announced as part of the AFWL's fall 2002 season, the Rose City Wildcats and the Seattle Warbirds are moving to a spring schedule and won't be playing. Revised AFWL schedule for 2002:
