Good News! The Bonny Doon School has once again (for the third year in a row) been granted a PICA intern. Her name is Chelsea Snell and she is a UCSC student who worked in the Westlake School Life Lab last spring. She is available on Wednesday mornings and maybe Thursday too (she'll let me know in April), beginning after our spring break. She comes with $200 for a Life Lab "project". In the past we have built a tee pee for the scarlet runner beans, two compost bins for both Life Labs, a tunnel in the Lower Life Lab, a rain water catch system, and a tool shed. Does anyone have any project ideas? I think that since the k/1 class sizes have both increased lately, this will not affect our volunteer schedule. Having more adults in the garden with the little ones will benefit everyone. The third grade class will be focusing on "Art in the Garden" and we will be making more signs and a garden mural. Having an extra set of hands for set up and clean up will also be helpful. We would love to hear about your ideas! Currently we are looking for a Volunteer Project Leader to Paint our Beautiful New Tool Shed. We would also like Build a Weather Vane and a Rain-Meter.
