WEG Update from Bonny October 27 2010
The day I rode was amazing. It was the day I had waited for and worked for all these months. I had a wonderful warm up, where I felt that Pikkers (Pikardi) was on and so was I. The weather was perfect and the time of day was also perfect. There was the 10 minute walk on part of the cross country course which was so relaxing yet invigorating as it gave me time to think about what I was going to do for the next hour.
Pikkers was the best I had felt him. And then it was time to go to the 10 minute ring which is a ring to finally get everything possible to be perfect, wraps off, polished, check tack, the last instruction before going down the shoot to the stadium. And now it is my turn, finally. I had my one round around the arena and the whistle blew and down the centre line I went, with the focus I needed and the moment I love. To make a long story short it was the best feeling I have had from Pikardi. The mistakes were totally mine as I tried a little too hard. These mistakes, unfortunately were what kept me from competing the next day. I will go over this for probably years to come. It will be " if I", as I know that it was one of our best tests ever. I will miss him and the intensity of how I like to train. I am so proud of my horse, and of the accomplishments I have made this past year, from getting my tempi changes confirmed and having a brilliant horse in one year, to driving to Winnipeg on my own (2 days) to meet my Husband and spend a quiet time at the family cottage.
The Canadian Team placed 7th which I think is the best placing in a world competition (not Olympics)
I am also so proud of our Team and our reserves which worked so hard as well.

I have been home for just over 2 weeks and still haven't got all my bits and pieces put away. To think that it all fit in the trailer plus 2 and sometimes 3 people. Yikes! it is amazing what you can do when you set your mind to something.
My time to reflect was when I was actually driving from Lexington Kentucky to Winnipeg by myself. It took two days so there was lots of time. It all started about this time last year with a clinic from Christoff Hess and from then on it has been more paper work than I thought possible. Just as you think it is the last, you are, at the last moment before departing somewhere, having to answer, print, email, scan, and often search for things. I was terrified I would miss filling out a form or signing a contract and eliminating myself before making it across the boarder. I would go over everything 2 or 3 times to make sure.
The other day someone asked me where have you been? So I said, to Florida to train with the Canadian Coach in preparation for the WEG. April we drove to Lexington to give one more shot at qualifying for the European Tour, and did it, so now we travel to Toronto to have a down time for 6 weeks and build for the Trip to Europe, leaving July 19th. Stationed ourselves in Werzwesel Belgium to train for 4 competitions - Wiesbaden, Lingen, Rotterdam, and Aachen, which took two and a half months of hard work, and more paper work. During my European tour I qualified for the Canadian Team to compete at WEG in Lexington KY, then Back to Toronto we go for a little down time although still training but not as intense.
Our main thoughts were to gauge our peak time at the end of September, which included making my partnership with Pikardi as perfect as possible. The health and happiness of my equine partner was of the utmost importance. I also paid attention to my own health. Before we left for Kentucky we had a warm up show to get us back into the competitive frame of mind. Taking into consideration all the preparation necessary to be ready for your time. A few days later we are on our way to Lexington Ky to the training camp at Woodspring Farm. We had 10 days before going on site. Training becomes a little more intense. I am feeling good and Pikardi is working better and better.
We entered the compound on the 25th and settled in. The stable area had been decorated and set up in advance by the grooms and Gina and Gwynne (chef d'equipe) and Christine Peters our Manager It looked amazing
We all had a bike if we needed as it was a long walk to get anywhere. Also 3 golf carts. Where ever we wanted to go we were looked after like without hesitation. Was very special.
We also had a Team vet Geoff, who took care of all the necessary things that would have our horse in top form.
Here we are at opening ceremony, looking very Canadian and very proud of it.
This has been the best international or Team experience ever.
How's that for a background: Wiesbaden.
I am now getting back into work at home except for the continual catching up on a few things.
Pikardi is still back in Lexington with Kathy Priest where he will be sold. I am hoping that someone will fall in love with him as I did and continue training and competing as he is not reached his potential yet.
This has been an extraordinary year and I want to say how grateful I am for everything that people have done for me. I have had such incredible support from my family and friends and those that believed in me, also from my co-owner Bruce & Jean Bell. If it wasn't for the endless efforts and time committed to my tour it would not have been possible. I will think of this last 12 months as a very special time in my life and an accomplishment that I am proud of. It is now great to be home with my family, friends and students who have waited patiently for my return.
Update from Bonny October 14 2010
Well I am almost home.
I can't remember a Canadian Team experience as wonderful as this one. I am at the Cottage at Victoria Beach with Fletcher. what a great way to reconnect to normalcy and let down.
Pikkers stayed behind at Woodspring Farm with Kathy Priest and Olivia who are taking good care of him. Yes it was a sad day to drive away
without him, but I know he is in good hands and I will probably head back there in about 3 weeks, if they need me. I took off 11:30 Wed (6th) and drove till about 10:00pm where I stayed at a rest stop and climbed in the back and tried to rest. Rest was about all I got. Just so you know that rest stops are primarily for truckers who stop late into the evening to sleep. It wasn't very full so I had lots of choice where to park so I chose next to a big truck in the middle of the Parking lot, thinking it would be the safest. I settled in for the night and soon regretted parking so close to this truck. I had forgotten that many of the truckers leave their engines running while they sleep. It was a restless nite so 4:30 AM was welcomed. So I made my coffee and cooked my breakfast and off I went and arrived in Winnipeg at 4:00PM and waited for Fletcher to arrive at 5:30 at the airport.
It is now the 14th of October and I am HOME!!!! Our time at the cottage was perfect. The weather was the best I can ever remember. The leaves had all fallen so cleaning up around the cottage was a big job. Even the grass needed to be cut. The windows and screens are all clean inside and out. I call Fletcher the Window Man. The furniture is all washed and put inside, free of spider webs and sand. The same goes for all 19 bikes. Of course there were also minor repairs on a few things before they broke. And of course the BB-Q is also clean and put away. I'm sure there are a few more things.
Our cleaning frenzy at the cottage - hows that for blue sky.
It is now time to unpack my suitcases and clean the trailer and put it away somewhere.
till next time

Update from Bonny October 1 2010
I guess it is time to report to you all. It has been so busy here with one thing or another. Our Canadian Camp looks so great with all the flags and banners etc. We have such a great team.
Christine, Gwynne, and Gina have carted us all around with the golf carts to wherever we want and back and forth to the hotel. they will need a week to recuperate. there are shuttles although I haven't taken them, but the word is out that they are pretty good. Now as for my ride, Pikkers was really good, ok , I got a 65.4%, our first 2 piaffes were resistance, and I am sorry as I over rode instead of being a little quieter. I watched my video and saw that he had started to piaffe. The rest of the test was the best we have done and I am very proud of that and Pikkers. I was disappointed to not ride the second day.
The activity all around the Park is amazing. when I have a quiet time I will put some pictures together and send them off. This clearly is my most favorite place to show. People here are so friendly and the accent is beautiful. I love it. Today I am taking Pikkers back to where the training camp was help, Wood Spring Farms. Coming home is getting closer. I will have lots of stories to tell.
CWB booth today. Yesterday The team was at the EC Booth to do autographs. Was good fun. I am making this brief as we have to get going.
I am thinking of you all.

Update from Bonny September 26 2010
Today was a great day.
Got up at 5:30 AM, in case you were wondering, had breakfast, was at the
endurance start at 7:10 to watch them start there 100 mile trek, No I don't know
where they go but, I did learn a lot - that after the first 15 miles they end up back at the beginning (not sure
that is a good thing) for a vet check and food (that is a good thing), then off
they go again to repeat this same exercise until the end.
I rode about 12:00 and sure enough there were some endurance riders heading off around the steeplechase course where we quietly walked our horses
to the main stadium to school. And by the way Pikkers was very good today. I was
windy and cool, and I loved it----not 34c.
The draw has not been done, so don't know the times.. I just know I ride on
the second day.
Fletcher comes in tonight. yipee!
Also I arrived back in my room and there was a present..... basket of
wonderful fruit and a bay horse-- I think that is Pikkers.
It came from the AEF wishing me Good Luck.. Thank you so much, it was a
wonderful surprise. And I will enjoy it.
As soon as I know any times I will send them on.

Update from Bonny September 19 2010
The days are ticking by and the heat is on---literally--it is so hot here and is going to continue for a while longer. Haven't checked the weather yet lately as the days seem to be full. I know you are probably thinking, how can it be full with just one horse to look after and ride, well, believe me it is. For starters I will introduce you to Christine Peters and perhaps some of you will recognize the name. She is the manager of the dressage division, and she is here to manage US. Well I have to say that she is lovely and very funny but aside from that she has organized our lives here and is she ever good at it. We have been to the Keenelan auction which is the biggest yearling sale in the world. I think there are 5000 yearling auction off. It runs till the 26th. The prices range from 25,000 to 4.2 million so far. And they are absolutely beautiful. Also went behind the scenes where you would look at them before being auctioned. Christine is like a walking encyclopedia on anything actually and particularly the thoroughbreds which is her passion.
Yesterday we were off to have a tour of the Cane Farms, but got lost and didn't make it. Today we went to the kentucky Horse Park to see
where we are stabled and the stadium and remember the long walks from place to place. So for those of you who are coming, bring good shoes
and hopefully it is not so hot, otherwise sunscreen too. I have all our accreditation, pictured ID that hangs around our necks till the end of the show.
Tomorrow, Christine is taking us to the morning work out at the race track at 6AM. Belinda's comment was: Bonny did you know that it is
still dark at that time? We are still going. Will be so much fun. We will also be decorating the fronts of the stall at the Park over the next days. it will be very RED & WHITE.
I Have had a little break and I am back except it is 4:30 in the AM. Oh yes ---can't sleep. Alex clipped Pikkers last nite and I am hoping it will look OK AND can we get high enough on his neck and do his face. big questions.. He is shedding so much but the wrong hair (summer hair). Is he going to look awful!!! Silly worries. Last nite Christine gifted us all with a spa day gift certificate here at the hotel for when ever we like. How should I use it? any Ideas?
Pikkers is going great. My biggest job at the moment is to make sure I can peak at the right time. Choosing what to to train on the most and still keep him fresh when we are done. Also which days do I give him off and how many--Do I train at camp or on site on the 25th when we move in--- I will be riding the 2nd day in the AM of the Grand Prix. Vicki, Belinda, Me, and Ashley is the order which Robert has chosen. The order of countries will not be known until after the Jog.
Sept.19th
Gina Smith and Geoff Vernon- team vet are arriving tonight. Gwyenn Rooke arrives on Monday. Betty arrives on the 23rd, Fletcher, Jean &
Bruce, Annie & Lynley on the 26th with most of the world I think.
I am now back from the barn and actually have time this afternoon to catch up on some emails etc. Pikkers was awesome again. Alex had done
the best clip job he has ever had. Yes I have to go back and help her with one small detail. Left side of neck up by the pole. He looks
fantastic. Not sure yet how we will fix it but I have time to figure out a plan!!!
Went to the race track this morning at 6 to watch some of the workouts. It was so lovely and then the sun came up.... lovely just doesn't cut it. It was serene and the skies were red. All you could hear were the horses galloping by, and not just the sound on the gallop but the rhythmical breathing.
I am going to send this off and will update again soon.

Update from Bonny September 16 2010
Had had a sleep in a wonderful hotel. Also the buffet breakfast was the best. I'll get to the more important stuff---Pikkers. He traveled very well in the back of the bus- air ride - box- big box. Wendy and I arrived 8 PM and the horses arrived 9:30pm. Were all in great shape and anxious to get their little faces into the grass before settling into their rooms for the next few days. The stalls were all prepared and ready. Christine was here setting up
everything. It was wonderful to arrive and all was done. The B&B "Rose Hill Inn where the grooms are staying is beautiful, just 3 k away. They all have their bikes.
It was an amazing feeling when we as a team (even thought the whole team is not here yet) walking away from the B&B after dropping the kids off. Here we are finally and we made it!!! I am about to get going to the stable, but it is pouring with rain---- suppose to rain all day. better than 90F. It was up to 94F on the way yesterday. It is a different heat, not as humid. Will be back in touch soon.

Update from Bonny Sept 13th 2010
The send off was a fabulous event. I think I have to go back a few days and tell you about the anticipatory feelings - for one, WEATHER, well thank god it was mostly sunny with a very light sprinkle of rain -once!!! Secondly: are there going to be enough people- I thought it was a great turn out, but I don't do the numbers. thirdly - the auctioning off of the riders and coach - With great trepidation in the weeks before of being on "the block" for sale, we as the riders were bought and paid for! I was bought by someone in Calgary (Rosemary & Colleen Church) and her daughter is in Kansas, so that is where I will go. I loved the event because I got to see people that I haven't seen for months. Wendy Christoff was there so we had a good visit. Wendy will drive with me to Kentucky. There were great auction items but I have to admit that when they finally closed the silent auction, I realized I had talked the whole time I was there. The time went by too quickly. The food was my favorite---lobster-scallops, I didn't get to the chicken or ribs or oysters, kept going back for more lobster. There was a Para demo, quadrille, reining demo, driving. They did a great job. Also face painting for the kids, wow, was she good, and a magician and a very tall person (clown) on stilts. And last an ice cream truck and I have to say that the line up never ended the whole time.
The next 2 days will be hectic with the packing and organizing. I am about to go and ride and then off to work wear house to get my beige pants.
Again I would like to say thank you to all of you that were out there once more on my behalf. You have kept the lions away from my door so I can stay focused and get ready for this last leg of the journey. I am very excited and Pikkers is going great.
I will chat again soon. Not sure on the internet status after I leave here.

Update from Bonny Sept 11th 2010
Oh Yes I have forgotten the beige pants which are what we have to wear for the opening ceremonies on the 26th and any other time. So they best be comfortable- stretchy. One more trip to the stores. Pikkers has been so very good. I still ride him outside and thru the forest and then in the outdoor ring. He is in terrific shape and very bright, actually the brightest I have seen him. yipee!!! The days are also cooler now and I suspect that it will be like that till we leave.
Speaking of leaving, it is very weird to be packing up my suit cases again and hitting the road. My little bit of security is now coming to an end and once again I shall be in limbo. Today I have opened all my suitcases and will try to be organized in how I pack.
Also did my thank you shopping which took me about 4 hours---very hard to choose what to buy for these special people who have been so kind. So driving around the parking lot and parking for awhile and the driving some-more I did come across something. I was thinking I might have to do this all over again. Didn't even have time for the beige pants.
The trailer is ready, the truck is ready, and I am not ready yet but of course will be. The evenings are a little quiet here as the TV has decided not to work (for a week now) and the sun goes down a bit sooner..
I will tell you all about the event tomorrow. It will be fun,,,,I think!
I hope you all are doing well and I will be in touch later.

Update from Bonny Sept 4th 2010
Well--I don't know where to begin as today has been a very interesting day. Not to mention that I rode as well these past 2 days at the Ontario Championships which was great to have a warm up show before we head off on the 15th. Perhaps I will start from when Robert arrived at Oakcrest Stables where the clinic was held before the show. I will be brief on that as it went very well. Pikkers has had rather a light month and is now in full work, so needless to say he is tired tonight. We left for the show thursday after our school. It took about 1 1/2 hours easy drive. I think Petrie (my GPS incase you forgot, as I haven't mentioned her for awhile) has taken me on some less than direct routes, although we end up at the right place. She also has a hard time identifying an "RR" address which of course Saddlewood in Bethany was just that. I cheated because I followed John who transported the boys. I took my trailer and stayed in it as our class each day was very early and the drive was too far. Yes thursday & friday were yet again very hot and humid. I can't believe that I am wishing for a little rain and wind and many degrees cooler which is exactly what we had here today - Saturday.
Pikkers was not very settled in his stall the first day and night. We showed very early on Friday - 8:46am. At least at that time of the
day it wasn't too hot. We had a great warm up and the GP was a 68.01% with 3 major mistakes. But his piaffe was one of the best he has done in the ring. Robert was pleased but put demands on us to not have mistakes in the half pass and the changes the next day in the GPS. The demands were met!!!! we received a 67.5% today in the GPS. Trot was a little flat. Canter tour was great.
As Robert was leaving to catch a plane his last words were---Libby McMullen wants to talk to me about your dress!!!! Now what could that be, maybe my jacket, she doesn't like the wine colored velvet collar, or the pins on my pocket? what if I have to buy a new jacket!!!! PANIC.. maybe my hat, I don't like it so maybe she doesn't. Well as the day went by and believe me it was slow having ridden at 7:46am today. I finally met up with Libby. Hey Libby "I said", so what's with the dress. OH SHE SAID.... You need to get rid of that #^*(+! #G.......flying saucer of a hat and your hair...is that a ribbon you have in it.. well what ever, it is too much, and your pin is all I can see other than the flying saucer of a hat. It has got to go too. And your spurs are down on your boots like you just started riding. Fix them!!!! By then I was almost cramped trying not to laugh too much. It was a few weeks before my lecture from Libby, that I had thought maybe my hair was too big and my hat was not right. Spurs I forgot to raise. but the pin I love. Anyway I went to work at the transformation. Had to get ready for the presentation so this was my dry run. Fortunately Belinda had a 2nd hat and it fit and it was a beautiful silk hat. AND SHE HAS OFFERED TO LET ME USE AT WEG!!! YIPEEEE. I had several comments on how I looked, positive incase you were wondering, so now I am thinking how bad it was before. and just think i showed in EUROPE!!!! Oh My God! Oh well that's over. maybe they remember me because of my hat!!!!
Throughout the 2 days we were reminded that after the presentations today we were to be escorted from the ring and we could decide how long we wished to stay afterwards. Also that the Bunk house that Alex was staying in was needed for about 3 hours and she would have to VACATE. Both Belinda and I were very curious about this event that was to take place. So we started to guess.---maybe a presentation of something- like a send off perhaps. signing autographs... a meet and greet...a special award... We had know idea. After our victory ride, there they were.....4 people 2 for me and 2 for Belinda.... wow!!! What an escort..they wanted a drug test. First thought, there must be something after this.... anyway I said that Pikkers pees on command and she said "do you?" We need to drug test you.... OOOOHHHHHH! Yes I can! So Now, both Belinda and I have 2 people each glued to us as they can't let us out of their sight. So we put the horses away and got comfortable and off we went to THE VACATED ROOM where they had set up there little office and where we could pee in a cup. Well after drinking 2 bottles of water, a cup wasn't going to cut it!! Yes there was a bathroom there. Firstly wash your hands and then try to dry them on one ply toilet paper. have you tried that.... Just sticks to your hands..then you can pee and then you can wash again and dry with the TP and have it stick to your hands one more time. Having never been drug tested before I thought it was quite interesting. Not quite what I had in mind but nonetheless, interesting. They didn't have to extract any blood from us.
On my drive home I was looking forward to some mindless TV program and just chill. Well, wouldn't you know that the satellite is on the fritz so there is only one channel and it could be in whatever language was popular at the moment. AND you are watching it thru
snow. Tried to do the podcast on itunes and couldn't figure that out. Billy where are you????
I am going to sign off and go to bed. I will finish in the morning.
Here it is morning and I have been rather lazy. Even tried to color my eye brows, left it in a little too long--now I have a road above
each eye. And I am going out in public today too. How about dark glasses that cover half your forehead. A little house cleaning today too. Did my laundry last nite. Windy and cool today. Need to do some grocery shopping. Food is a little scarce in here.
Can you believe it, we are leaving in less than 2 weeks.
I have spoken to Lynley, Betty, Lisa, Maureen & Shelagh yesterday on my way home from the show. Once again they are in full swing with the clinic and used tack sale at Kenhold Stables, all as a fundraiser for me to help me through the last leg of getting ready for WEG. they are all exhausted. All this for me. What can I say that could convey my sincere appreciation and gratitude. I can't find words enough, but I tell you when I finally get home and settled we are having one heck of a party!!! I thank you so much, all of you. This would never have happened otherwise. You are all amazing and I send big hugs.
Time for me to get out of the apartment and do something. I will chat again soon.

Pics from Bonny of her stay in Ontario at Belinda's:
August 21st Saturday
This morning is the same, sunny hot, and not a breath of air. Although later a little breeze may develop, I hope. Yes the day has come to an end, time for bed. My day was lovely. It has been so much fun to be here and to catch up after many years of only phone calls. Ron & Sue are the same as they were all those years ago. Just GREAT!!!! Thank you so much for sharing this time with me.
I will return back to Toronto in the early morning. check on Pikkers and then a little shopping (groceries). An old friend showed up at
Oakcrest a few days ago< Denise Lenz. she groomed for me in a trip to Germany and 1984 LA Olympics. Hopefully I will see her again before leaving for Ky.
Here we are with a house fly(looks like a Mexican flea in comparison) and a New Jersey Bomber (horse fly).We thought that the horse flies in Belgium were bad, take a look at this. These things are so big I had to take a picture. I am going to sign off and send this. Will send some pictures in the next up date.

August 20th, Friday
It is going to be another hot day. It is so beautiful here. I look out my bedroom window and watch the deer (bambi's) resting under the
trees. The leaves are picture still.......It is now the end of the day and I am in bed after a dinner out. I had a great day with the horses and the ladies next door, Beth, & Scottie. They also joined Sue & I for dinner. The area around here is so different from home. Not big cities, but small towns with unique stores, many of which are antique shops and small restaurants. The restaurant we went to was named Galleria. Had 6 small tables in side about 3 table outside on the street side and a few in the back on the patio. The benches were smothered in cushions, which made it very homey and cozy. They don't have liquor licenses, only corkage, so you can bring your own liquor in a bag. It does seem funny that you can walking around the streets with a bottle of something, in a brown paper bag. Since the restaurant is a house really, the kitchen is also very small, but very busy. It is amazing that there could be sometimes 5 people in the kitchen.
We drove to pick up lunch from the City Market, all I can say is I am glad we ordered our lunch over the phone. What a fantastic place. They had bread pudding which I love but I had already ordered my lunch so I restrained from getting it. BUT we have tomorrow, don't we!!!!? There are lots of markets here and amazing food.
I did ride today, Sue's horse "Z" or "ZEE", anyway, he is a Lusitano stallion about 16hh. I have never ridden one before and I must say he is fantastic. Three great paces. This horse will be able to do everything without difficulty. What a find. They are smaller but ride bigger. They are a perfect amateur ladies horse, OK you don't need a stallion but that is minor.
Well after many attempts to see Sue and Ron Bibbo, I am actually leaving on Thursday for New Jersey. During that time I will get a
chance to see Sue's new horse. I will be back on Sunday early and prepare for Fletcher's arrival on Monday. I have to also add a couple of things that I missed mentioning about the wedding, because I was a bit sleepy. For starters Phyl's Auntie Jan whom I met first time when we were getting our toes done the day before, had made the beautiful invitations, she also put together table numbers with all the names on it, also fans for each person with a vile of bubble to blow after Billy and Phyllis were pronounce
Husband & Wife, all beautifully decorated in the theme colors. Tags for all the food and cakes. The food was amazing. Annie was chef in charge of the Kitchen with Betty and Pam who organized how and where and when the food was going out. Also 2 Kitchen helpers. Timing was great. Jim & Russ BB-Qed. There was a huge amount of food and I can't believe how much everyone ate. There were 7 different fantastic cakes to choose from. The flowers were amazing, thanks to Lynley. Then the dancing began. Jana & Danny made beautiful music throughout the evening. It was wonderful to meet more of Phyllis's family. Wendy, her Mom, Jeff & Dan her brothers, her Grandma Phyllis, Aunts and Uncles. I spoke to Billy & Phyl at the cottage this week and they were having a great time. Not sure the weather was perfect. they are on their way home today the 19th of August, only to turn around and leave tomorrow
for Mexico. Yes I nag, it is called being concerned really. I am sure you can't wait to hear what about---How does sunscreen sound. Lets turn the burner on high and see how long it takes to turn PINK!!!! Poor Phyl is in charge-- don't miss a spot.
Being that it is Thursday I am now in New Jersey visiting Sue & Ron. We were trying to remember the last time I was here. We do remember that Fletcher & Billy came with me once . But then again there was a time that my Dad and Billy & I came to visit too. You see all it takes is two incidences and WE forget. The other day i went out to the paddock to get Pikkers--Called and he looked but didn't come over. Thank god he looked,"I thought". All the horses look the same. Greys on one side and bays on the other. Yikes, it is like walking into a herd of cows, sheep, and goats, they all look the same even though there is a Betsy, Burt, and a Billy. I actually get the gate opened and call and he stops looking. I guess you know where this going. If Pikkers could talk I am sure there would have been some words of insults. I just happen to glance around to find Pikkers in a different paddock staring at me through his mask waiting patiently for his apple and to think I almost gave to some other horse. Good thing he loves me. I can give you all kinds of excuses if you like, actually I think I will anyway, here we go--(1)-In a hurry, for what reason I don't know, (2)Thinking about his scratches, and hoping they are a little better this morning, yes they were still there, needn't have worried, nothing was missing,... (3)how am I going to treat them today....MMMM, which medication shall I use.I don't think I have shopped so much for poor old Pikkers as I have lately,.. (4)OH and also about my ride, probably the most important part as I need to focus. I finally get him ready and off we go for our walk along the trails as part of our warm up and then go to the outdoor ring to school and back out to the trails to cool down. I have also bought a lot of ice things for his legs as I ice after riding. Now it is which ones will work the best. Not the gel, waste of money, My dry ice is good, and the horse Ice packs are good, only if your horse stands still. Pikkers is just too impatient so by the time I have got all four on I have to start all over again and straighten them out. By now I am ready to take them off and finish my day. I am irritated. Just spend more money on these wonderful ice boots that would work but I am not successful yet again. Maybe if someone else did it, it might work.
Update August 17th
It didn't take too long to get back to routine. Since the horses have been free (out of quarantine) all my equipment was transfered to the main barn and they were working out of a locker, and great lockers too. So the first day being yesterday was a long and I am sure aggravating for poor Pikkers. yes he had to stand in the cross ties with his legs crossed, poor thing, until I got all his legs medicated ( still have to be careful of the scratches) and iced. I am positive I covered a lot of ground, only because I always forgot something.
NEXT DAY
Today was much better and also worked well. I think he put a little weight on so he is now on a little cut back. Went for a walk on the
trails with hills for 15 minutes which is a great why to start a ride. My apartment is great here and the best thing is Fletcher is coming
here on the 23rd for a week. It will be so wonderful to had my sweetie here to share in what I am doing and to see where I am.
I am feeling very positive in the weeks ahead. But I have to tell you about the WEDDING. The days up to the wedding, perhaps before I got back to Canada were a little fretful as I wasn't sure what I needed to do. The kids and yes they will always be kids had it pretty much organized. Although there was still some things to ironed out. I have to admit that the weeks before the wedding I was a little emotional, that is putting it mildly. Being as I was by myself until I got home, no one was witness to those times. I would like to replay the day and fortunate for me, it was videoed. Can't wait for the pictures.
I have now been back in Toronto for a week. Pikkers is doing great and is very happy to see me. Always looks and his eyes follow me everywhere. Have had a couple of panic attacks with an oil leak from the truck. One day went by, thinking this can't be me, so I waited till the next day only to find twice the mess on the ash-fault. This is a beautiful drive way and now I am putting oxi clean on it until I can get concrete cleaner. Wait till Fletcher sees this. OH WHAT A MESS!!!! So I drove to the Ford dealer thinking I was on my last kilometer only to be told that I had a container of engine oil behind the back seat that had cracked from the heat and was leaking between the frame and the running boards. I did think it was a weird place for oil to dripping, but I WAS in a panic. I did leave the dealership with a giggle and only spent $90 instead of who knows what!!!. OK the leather seat at the back has a stain and I don't know how to fix that. How about a cushion.
I am in a little quandary as to the 12th of September which is a fundraiser for the WEG or Own the Podium. I have been told that I am
for sale. Every time I say that I have to laugh. I can't imagine selling myself. I have to clarify this a little. I will give a clinic or speak or have dinner or wash your car, stuff like that and i am not cheap!!! I am sitting here with this image -- standing on a stage and having someone bid on me,,, oh my god, what if no one wants me!!!!! OK I am laughing now, what a vision or should I cry!!! I don't think I have ever been auctioned off before.
I finally figured out how to work the TV. It has only taken me almost a month. I realized I have satellite. WOW! Watched Oprah while
cooking my dinner. All I had before was football. I don't like football, but it was noise. It is getting late so I will sign off for now. Oh yes I did a one day clinic on sunday at David Marcus"s place. Yipee, i don't have to go looking for beetles in the woods anymore--just kidding, that is like the survivors,=--eating bugs- can't do it. Fletcher, you be happy, I ate a vegetable tonight!!!.It is called a
potato and canned wax beans, I love them.
good nite

Update from Bonny August 11th, 2010
Well I am back in Toronto. It is late and hot and humid. I waited for my bags and waited for the park & fly valet and then waited for them to get my truck. After a couple of attempts in getting into the truck they finally searched me out. dead battery in the remote. If they had tried to open it with the key the alarm would have gone off. This is now 45 minutes later that I get my truck. I still have an hour to drive, but I have Petrie, she will get me back to the farm. As you probably know Billy and Phyl were married on saturday the 7th and what a day!!!
The weeks before were emotional not to mention the big day. I want to replay that day again to just soak in everything. Time goes by so quickly. We are so very proud of the new Mr. & Mrs. Bonnello, as you can image. I can't tell you how beautiful the day was because of two very special people. I was thrilled that they had chosen to get married in the garden. I can't wait for the professional pictures to come so here we are. It makes me smile. I am speechless. I will update again in the next days and elaborate on my time at home.
Tomorrow I will have to get my head back into a different focus.
Checking out for now as it is late.

Update from Bonny August 1st, 2010
Just to keep it under 2 weeks I'm home 13 1/2 days. We laugh about this as Robert thought I shouldn't be gone for so long! I am taking in every waking minute. The sprinklers are even entertaining. I have had an update on Pikkers already from Belinda and also from Wendy the barn manager. Belinda rides him beautifully, now I feel spoiled as I can relax and stop fretting about him. Also they have turned him out, first time yesterday. So he is in good hands. That has made it so easy to be away.
It is so wonderful to be home to be with Fletcher and see the kids. I guess it doesn't matter how old they are they will always be our kids.
Update From Bonny July 23, 2010
I have had some time to reflect on just how lucky I have been to be here. I have made new friends and became reacquainted with many people from the past and to be remembered no less. ( It sounds like I am old but i'm not).
It brings back memories of what a commitment is all about. The sacrifices that you make when you have made a commitment. Some of you haven't been there in my life when I made these sacrifices in the past, some how it is a little harder when your are older (but I'm not old!!!).My life is just different. One thing that has never changed is the discipline in training. To treat your equine companion as an athlete and partner and with the respect that he (She) deserves. Not a day goes by without butterflies in my stomach. Can't wait to get to the barn to see him and make sure he is content and well and has everything that he needs. It is like children. I remember when Billy was young, not a day went by that I didn't make sure that he was happy and secure in his life, which wasn't very hard actually. Had what he needed without loosing respect. Sorry Billy I am not really comparing you with Pikkers!!! Being organized and having a short term or long term goal is important, to be able to stick to it through the tough times. I can't tell you how many times I doubted myself but by the time I had hashed it out, the next day those butterflies were back. Training alone hasn't been ideal, it requires a lot of self motivation, I call it dreaming. If you can't dream a little, how do you make a goal. It has always made me work harder and be more determined.
The date May 8th seems like a year ago and here it is July 23rd and we are back to Toronto. We arrived at Jewel Court Stud May 9th not having any idea where "Wuustwezel, Belgium was. This is a name that has taken me most of the trip to pronounce. Just think trying to explain to someone where you live and you can't actually tell them. I am sure by now word is out that driving without a GPS is at least for me, would have been close to impossible. it is like your passport, don't leave home without it. The apartment where Belinda, Wendy & I lived was a blessing to have had. It was a place to share stories, get to know each other, talk about the day, encourage each other, talk on skype to our family and friends. It all made it possible to be away from home for such a long
time. The days were never without something to do. Besides the riding and the watching, we had our usual day to day chores. Have had several adventures which always left us laughing, although it didn't take much to make us laugh. Jewel Court Stud was an amazingly beautiful facility where the horses were relaxed and content. Lovely out door ring bordered by rose bushes and hedges, manicured to perfection. A lush green area to graze and also two temporary paddocks specially assembled for our use. The owners, Mr. & Mrs. Cordia would often be sitting ring side to watch the training, and also would come into the barn to visit. The barn manager, Wiebke Bank was incredible. If you needed something, you could be sure that it was taken care of in an instant. She is a real horsewoman in every aspect. It has been a privilege to have been part of Jewel Court.
Well the last big show is over now and I have to say that I am very proud to have been part of the European Tour with my horse Pikardi. The chosen shows were all different experiences which you could not prepare for because there is nothing like it Canada or the US that compares. There were the four shows, Wiesbaden, Lingen, Rotterdam, and Aachen. Each show brought something new. Although the one thing that was common was the lack of parking, no bridle numbers,(you need your own)and the marathon walk from stable to warmup ring to show ring, Aachen being the exception. The jog was less formal than at the North American shows. The first thing you do is get your accreditation and you are good to go. At the end of the show you pay your dues and pick up your passport. It was fascinating to see a beautiful park in front of a castle be turned into a show ring with the different disciplines and at the end of the show be transformed back into this pristine park, where people picnic and spend time just sitting under a tree to read or nap. Actually they did that while the show took place as well. Lingen was also a show that had been transformed, out of a parking lot this time, and into competition area, with vendors of all kinds ranging from candies & ice cream to tack and food and drinks. Of course vendors are at all the shows. Rotterdam was again a different competition. Some familiar areas as I competed there many years go.
The walks in Rotterdam were the longest but were very beautiful if you had time to look and weren't in a hurry to get from A to B, which was usually the case. Aachen of course is the biggest show in the world. The walks were not as long, the vendors were amazing, and also some familiar areas again, as I had competed there all those years back. The footing was the best and in every ring from the warm up to the competition ring.
Training during the European trip has been intense and yet we have had quiet times. Every day I feel privileged to have a horse that I believe in and I am excited to ride every day. It has been great to have a trainer after all these years of training alone although I still like my time by my self. Aachen being the biggest and most prestigious show in the world was again fabulous to be there. Unfortunately My dear Pikkers was suffering from Scratches which had developed into making him very sore and he was almost lame. He had bug bites and his skin and hair
were coming off in areas that meant I couldn't use my legs. Hard to ride a Grand Prix with no legs and no horse. Needless to say it was the worst show of my international experience. Bad timing, but Pikkers tried his best as I did. I felt committed to the team to compete as it was the Nations Cup. Had I scratched there wouldn't have been a team. Was the toughest ride I have ever had to do. In the end the Team placed 5th.
The flight home was smooth sailing. Took 4 hours to get away from the airport. Horses are in quarantine at Oakcrest Stables for approximately 10 days. We have a separate barn attached to the arena so we can ride first thing in the morning.I am at the barn by 8 to attend to Pikkers scratches and then we have the arena from 9:30 to
10:30. Belinda's Mom, Robyn kindly offer an apartment which is attached to their house. The gardens and their home are unbelievable. I will take some pics so you can see. I have packed a bag to take home which isn't coming back with me. Was a good feeling. Yes I am counting the days. And I also looking forward to the main competition in Sept. Look forward to seeing some of you when I get home. Also the big day August 7th......
till next time

Update From Bonny July 4, 2010
Another sweltering day. It is ok for the beach but for nothing else, particularly riding. Pikkers had a day off today to get ready for the return of Robert.
Belinda & I made a road trip to visit Christelot Boylen and Udo Lange in Wurtzen, Germany.(July3rd-4th). That was such a wonderful reunion so to speak. We rode early yesterday and drove 6 hrs and Belinda got to see her young horse which is at Christelot's until after WEG. A normal drive would take 7 1/2 hours, but since no one pays much attention to the speed limit you just GO FAST> We stayed the night and Belinda rode this morning and I got to see Christleot's horse Famous Boy as well. Very lovely. the temperature was +35c. The country was beautiful and more rolling with fields of as soon as I decide when I will come home I will let you know. Will do some teaching before Billy's wedding. Can't wait to ride tomorrow as we are a roll. As of last week we had quite beautiful half passes which have always been a bit difficult. I can't believe I am going to say this but I can't wait to do them tomorrow. yikkees! Wendy comes home tomorrow from a long trip to Rotterdam and France. We have missed her. She rode in+39.
Ok it is now the 6th and jean isn't here. delayed flight 24hours. I will see her tomorrow about 5:30. Wendy just made the most incredible salad. I need to learn, but it I really hard when it is done for you. I remember my mother saying-are you ever going to learn to cook!! I do learn from WATCHING!. Will chat again soon.

Update From Bonny July 1, 2010 - Rooster!
I am sitting her at 8:30 on the 30th., listening to a rooster from somewhere in the neighborhood. This is not his preferred time to crow, it really is in the middle of the night. I am quite surprised that he hasn't ended up on someone's dinner table. Not sure how that would taste. I am having chicken for dinner tonight but not Rocky the rooster.
I tried another adventure today. started out with a great ride. Pikkers enjoys his groom and also the bath at the end. Bottom lip
hanging down and eyes half closed.
Came back to the Apt for a shower and a change. Hit the road looking for a place to have a pedicure. To make a long story short it took me till 5:30 and I found just the right one. she was actually English. Cute little place. I now have a time for 10:15am..Yipee!! Can't wait. Have been thinking about this for a long time. Can ride early and it will only take me 15 minute to get there. Yes she will have to take me as I am... a little smugged and sweaty and since we have birds in the barn, maybe a bird poop or two on me somewhere. Hair after being under the lid (helmet) is really attractive. I am now back at the apt. (of course - I am writing) put my dinner in the fridge (i am going to have to cook tonight) and check my email. OOOOHHHH look< i need to be at the train station between 10:30 and 11 to pick Belinda up. No pedicure. Oh Well. I will just have to do a bit of stretching before trying to reach my feet. Then there is the problem of seeing. I need to have the right glasses, if they are too magnifying you have to get closer---not happening, then if they are not strong enough you are too far away to reach - can't see!! Need to get on that new program called Zumba. check it out. some fitness thing that I think I would actually like. Saw it on TV. I hope the spelling is correct and you are not looking up something risque. Sorry if that is the case.
I have to say that this is not all top hat and tails. Just the other day I came back to the apartment to a terrible smell. (wasn't my socks either). It was in the kitchen... wasn't the garbage. I do believe there was a stink in the sink so I assumed there was crap in the trap, so I found some liquid, looked like it might be the right stuff, so I poured it down the sink and prayed. You know it is a guessing game when you are here when you can't understand the language or read it or pronounce it. Shopping is always an experience, sometimes you are not sure what you have come home with. SOO! I thought I would go on the internet to learn the Dutch
alphabet---I know it sounds rather elementary but I couldn't even do that. Sat back for a moment a thought --I am on the home stretch, why start now to learn Dutch, I am going to Germany in a week and a half and I can speak some German then I am going back to Canada and I can concentrate on English. Problem solved.
It is the 1st of July. Happy Canada Day. Missed that. My dear friend Betty sent me some photos of Saskatoon of the the terrible down pour. Unbelievable!!! And not far away in Wanam it is a draught. Here, it is hot and humid with horse flies packing. Not possible to ride out in the forest anymore or even in the outdoor ring. I can't wait to ride Pikkers tomorrow. He is amazing. I sometimes sit and think of where we have come from and where we are now.. Going to Aachen, the most prestigious show in the world. We are working hard to make the next show count. Can't wait.
I will be going home at the end of July, talk about can't wait. To see my family and my friends. I must say that I am very proud of my
students for hanging in there while I am away. You have all been so supportive and I thank you. My family is amazing and so is skype, cause I can actually see them as we chat. Fletcher I love you and can't wait to see you.You are always their for me, thank you, love. I just spoke to Billy with a sleepy voice, I guess I phoned too early, but I love to here his voice. Phyl was off to work. I like to get their message machine to hear Phyl's voice!! Sooo great. Thank you for always being there for me and encouraging me even though it is hard for you too. Bennett & Dean can't wait too see you too. Has been too long.
I am going to bed now as it is late.
See what tomorrow brings.
love Bonny
Update From Bonny June 29, 2010 - An Adventure!
WELL
Hello all!
I made it home having taken a drive to Antwerpen with no real destination in mind until I ended up in a very ethnic community and driving on the train tracks and having no sense of direction, so I decided to check in with Petre, my GPS, and put in any address just to get me out of there. Well ended up in a big shopping centre, so I walked around aimlessly, until I ended up in a hardware store with the smell of rubber and tools creeping through my nose, and immediately became homesick. What does that tell you of my shopping at home.
So I made my way home in rush hour traffic, taking me 3 times as long but that was OK as I now know where I am and I knew a glass of cider wasn't far away, and also knowing the other part of the world might be on their computer. COMMUNICATION,,,,YIPEE
So here I am.
The weather has been rather hot this last week. I have tried not to show too much skin. I have a long way to go with that though. It seems as I get older my pants get longer, I no longer wear short sleeves and these cute little tops are only to look at. Takes longer to get ready each morning. Thank god for my high boots- they keep my thighs from falling below my knees. I still have ankles although not as shapely as I would like. I still have a few more inches with the pants if I need to hide the ankles. I don't want to scare you Fletcher, I really think you will still recognize me. I think the only thing I can remember these days is to come down the center line. But I have to say, in Rotterdam, with 7 judges all around the ring was an OH MY GOD moment. I am entering (feels wrong) and I have to go between 2 judges boxes to go down the center, as the extra judges sit on the short side at F and K. Where's Petre when I need her!!!
Well enough of my story, I would like to say thanks again for all the support that has been given me, yet again this past weekend. I know that Patty and Sue made it possible to have this fundraiser at the CAADA show. Thank you to Anderson Ranch in allowing the fundraiser for me to be held at you fantastic facility, thank you so much. Where did the wine come from? LYNLEY? I THINK SO & thank you Lynley. As usual there was the crew, Lisa, Arden Lynley, Faria, Clair, and Patty and Sue, who have spent, I am sure all there spare time to organize and put together this event. Equiproducts, thank you for
selling the T-shirts. Lara Briarwood Photography for donating a photo session thank you. Thank you CAADA for donating the cheese from Tony James. Thank you to Irene for donating the saddle pads, can never have too many. I am always overwhelmed with the generosity that has flowed my way. There aren't words enough to express my appreciation. Time to get in the kitchen, see if I can remember how. Petre can't help me on that one. Wendy is away so I have to cook a little, not
the same as home.
Thinking of you all

Update From Bonny June 27, 2010 - Another Beautiful Day
Yesterday was another great day. Have been just taking some time for myself as almost everyone is away. Actually sat in the sun yesterday. Need a little color..Pikkers was wonderful. With Robert away it gives me time to go back and get some details cleaned up. Simple walk canter transitions---to make the canter pirouette better, for one and piaffe a little for forward in front of my leg. His passage is among the best in the world so I am told. I can only feel it and that is pretty awesome. I can see his knees up by his nose without looking down. How about that!!!
I have to brag: Wyatt Lytton, my dear friend Pam & Lee's son along with Willy are in Gallup New Mexico for the National Rodeo Finals. He has a 4.0 average in Jr high. He is up for 4 scholarship awards for College and has worked his way up to the Finals. Last night he was roping. I don't know yet how he did but Congratulations
anyway. Can't wait to hear.
I think these next days will fly by as we are on the home stretch. One more show and then.......OK, I am excited!!!!! Back to Canada.
I had to show you this- yes it is PINK! Most of the bikes, actually all the bikes in Amsterdam are the worst looking bikes I've seen. All pretty old and rusty. I am sure they get stolen on a regular basis unless you have a lock and chain. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of that as the chains themselves are as big as a towing chain and the lock is something you would use on a warehouse door. Hardly worth the effort to carry the tool to try to snip it, -
snipping sounds so gentle, like cutting hair, I think it would take 2 strong men to cut it and then all you get is an old rusty bike, BUT nonetheless it is transportation.
Here is Bente and her paintings at an art exhibition. She is amazing not just because she is my friend and I love her, but she is incredibly talented and a beautiful person. Not being artistic myself it is so hard to image being able to do what she does and so beautifully. Wow, Ben.
Now is this the life. Panama and Pikkers. so relaxing. I should hang this up in Pikkers stall so he can dream about being out. This is what he jumped out of and ran free on the cobble stone. I know he was startled by something and bolted and then realized he was going too fast to stop and made an attempt to jump it, only to break the wooden post and the battery box and drag the rest with him. Needless to say he is not turned out anymore. very sad face, actually he is happy eating in his 12x14 apartment.
This is what he will miss and me too.
I just had a little kitty come visit - tuxedo cat. He is doing his laundry on my window sill. He or she visits quite often when I have all the doors and windows opened. A bit warm here. Well it is getting time to shut down. I have a cold, sneezing coughing runny nose, all those wonderful things that go with a cold. I let my resistance down when I took a couple of days off to go to Amsterdam. I guess that's what you get for taking a holiday. Goodness, this cat has more laundry that I do. He is still here.
I wish you a great day. till next time

Update From Bonny June 25, 2010 - On the home stretch
Rotterdam show was full of celebrations with everyones successes. Wine seemed to be the main staple, and late nights sitting in the restaurant at the hotel chatting and laughing. Again we walked many miles ( I suppose I should say Kilometers). It really doesn't matter because by the end of the day my legs ached, my feet were tired, and I just seemed a little shorter. If you need to go to the bathroom, it is again a long walk. You have to plan when you leave the hotel...make sure you have a peepers before you leave. If you need to go to the bathroom before riding you need to plan another 20 minutes into getting ready. You have to leave the compound and walk half way around and back. And then if you are at the show area I found only one toilet. There were many people and they were eating and drinking and there was never a line up. Nobody seems too concerned. I was wondering if there was a secret... could be the forest, maybe. I didn't go there.
The walks from the barn to the warm up to the competition ring were all through the forest. Long but beautiful.
When we were called back for presentations for the Team event the excitement was pretty high. think about it---OK we can always get a better score, BUT we came 3rd to the best in the world. We couldn't have placed higher, only scored higher.
After Rotterdam I drove to Amsterdam to pick my dear friend Bente up at the airport. I have changed from Michael to Petre (GPS) as a change was necessary. Petre just tells you to turn right or left in so many meters instead of trying to pronounce the street names, which are not understandable from an english person. My day started at about 5:30 from Rotterdam after a late night - had to pack and have Breakfast and hit the road at 7:30, arriving early at about 8:10 which was perfect as Bente had arrived early. Well our first stop was to get rid of the bags, so we found our B&B, which happened to be 5 minutes from the best shopping ever!!!! Check in was not until 12:00. So we just left the bags at the front. Ok now we have our walking shoes on, first stop is a cafe for breakfast (for Bente) and a coffee, and good start to chatting and catching up. Then we walked and window shopped as they don't open until noon on a sunday. Not too many people out on the streets. Time to check in: Actually the B&B was an apartment on the 2nd floor. Well if you have been to Holland (or many other countries) there aren't elevators to make lugging you bags easy.
Small bags are the only way to go or live out of your vehicle, that is if you can find a parking spot near by or one at all. The stairs are treacherous, narrow and small. Too bad if your feet are a size 6 or higher: hang on to the railing and drag your bag up one step at a time. Definitely had a work out by time you reach your floor. We have the same conversation every time we went upor down the stairs:- hang on to the rail, make sure you concentrate, don't go too fast. Whew, i made it. That is if you can stop laughing long enough. Unpacked, and had a reality check. We finally got to see each other. How great is that. We decided that a walk in the near was in order as well as lunch and a little shopping as the stores are now opened, a beer later in the afternoon along with some sort of sweet, and I think dinner was in there somewhere. We did exactly that and made our way back to the apartment, exhausted. Slowly made our way up the stairs and collapsed. We both had been up very early that day. I was very happy that the bed was soft and comfortable. a little break from my KIDDY bed here in Wuustwezel (try to pronounce that!!!).
Had a great sleep. We could make our breakfast in the apt. Next day was wonderful. We walked what seemed from one end of Amsterdam to the other. Saw beautiful Architecture. Had our usual coffee, lunch, beer, all in different areas. Bente made it her job to keep me from getting run over. You must look both ways many times, - for bicycles as there is a special path for the bikes and scoots and small motor bike, then cars, then buses, then trains. I have never seen so many forms of transportation.
Update From Bonny June 18, 2010
Well it has been a little busy. Good thing as I am working hard to keep up with my smart horse. Today I am tired. Am in the middle of
packing again for our trip to Rotterdam which is a CHIO5*. Everyone is there--.
Belinda and I had to return the car and renew the contract on the 12th. So off to Amsterdam we go. Only takes 1 1/2 hrs. not far. We
arrived at the airport as that is where we had to exchange the vehicle about 4. So we had some time to take the train into town and
wander the streets and have dinner. It was an Asian dinner and then back on the train and back to our apartment by 10:00 was fun to walk around and take in some of the sights.
The next day everyone decided that it would be fun to head off to Paris for the afternoon. So off we went to catch the 11:30 am train
only to miss it by 5 minutes. But there was another train at 12:08 with a change in Brussells,so we ran,--well now I remember why I
don't jog my horse or run anymore. Yes we made the train and I am still suffering with my right knee which I had torn the ligaments a
few years ago and I have now aggravated it.Oh well, when it is stationary like riding it doesn't hurt too bad until I dismount..
We are in Rotterdam and have yet another marathon from the barn to the warm up area. sure wish I had my bike!!!
I about to go to bed as it is late, but there will be lots to chat about. It is Thursday the 17th. at 8:30. I HAVE ACTUALLY ORDERED ROOM SERVICE. NEVER do that.
I have walked a marathon today. If you could only image beautiful paths totally canopied with trees. It must be a generous 1/2 km one
way to the warm up and a 5 minute walk to the main ring. Did that many times today. If ever I needed my bike it is this whole trip. Of course here in Holland that is all you see. Bikes and people walking or running. Yes there are cars- albeit LITTLE. I suppose walking it is a good thing as riding only one horse I suspect I need a little more exercise. Pants are still fitting and so are the boots. that is my guide!!
Pikkers has been very good. I made a mistake in my zig zag which rarely happens as I love the zig zag. My Canter pirouettes were awful so needs to be cleaned up tomorrow. I ride tomorrow a 5:46. 9th in. Who knows when you will get this as I can't get internet here at the hotel. It has been taken over by another company so there is a little chaos. Well after chatting about our 3rd place finish with the team, it was decided that we could have placed any better. Behind the best in the world. 1st- Holland, 2nd Germany and the Canada. Ok yes our scores could be better. We are still very happy and even won some money. Yipee!!!!
I am starting to get myself ready for my time. Will be leaving the hotel soon. It is a bit chilly today which is good for us. Now that I
know how to do the internet here I can perhaps call on skype later. I will sign off for now.
Will be visiting my dear friend Bente for a few days. will pick her up at the airport on Sunday and stay in Amsterdam for a couple of
days. Looking forward to a little break, and I am sure Pikkers is too, although he jumped out of his paddock a few days ago (something spooked him) and scared me so turn out might be restricted. I will chat again. It has been a little difficult sharing a groom as Robert wants us videoed every time we ride and he also other requests which sometimes are not possible as Alex really isn't always available. I will be recruiting in Aachen.
Bye for now.

Update From Bonny June 7, 2010:
I would love to see how a fabulous horse show is put together out of the parking lot, but see it in high speed. Where do they begin???? No castle this time. the riders tent was the size of a dressage ring and the food they offered AM, Lunch, and dinner, was a buffet, and water and wine on every table, and you can order whatever drink you like. This, just incase you were wondering was at no cost to the riders. Then there was yet another small tent ring side that also offered drinks and sandwiches for the competitors while they watched. If it wasn't for all the walking I am sure I would need to be put in baggage on the way home. It is so different from home. It is a full time job to be sure you don't pack on the weight.
Pikkers was the best he has performed for me here at Lingen although we had a bit of a tongue issue and that is not gooooood to put it mildly. I was so disappointed but also excited as he was easy to ride, even had time to listen to the music albeit not for long as I suddenly drew a blank. Oh my god where do I go now!!! terrible feeling...
Yesterday I just hand walked Pikkers, "for a short time", as the stable is right next to the high speed train tracks. I had washed him
off and thought it would be nice to get him out of the stall for some fresh air. Once again I am assuming all will be just great and quiet.
WRONG AGAIN!!! will I ever learn..I guess not. Being as the show was put together in a parking lot and the stabling was in a huge
warehouse (was nice a cool) and everything is on concrete, Grass is at premium and well used. not inviting. he started out a little
fresh so I thought maybe I could get up and down this cobble stone road way before the train arrived AT HIGH SPEED. I neglected to check how often they ran, which seemed to be every 10 minutes or so. Not enough time for a relaxing walk. I felt a monster growing at the end of my line as I (WE) was listening to the distant hum of the train approaching. all I could think about was tripping over the curb, slipping on the concret, running into these little concrete pylons, well it all came true. Now I am trying to check his legs, which are moving so fast it is a blur, check to see that he hasn't broken something other than the pylon, hoping there isn't blood pouring out of some part of his legs, and still make it back to the stall. We did and all is well.
You would be amazed at the stuff that has to be packed. I have never seen such disorganization. OK I am organized, 2 trucks with
everything I own, that includes my buckets. the feed is everywhere, there are more individual items that take a gazillion trips back and forth. one little bag for this and another for that. I think I might have to step in for the next show. It is way too out of control.
today is a slower day, already unpacked, (remember I had only 2 trunks), took 1/2 hour or less. Laundry is started, coffee is almost gone. Have to water it down, very strong. already thinking I need to get some whitener for my teeth. Have breakfast. Go to the stable, get Pikkers out and groom him. Do horse laundry although I can do that tomorrow. Betty would be proud of me as I do my saddle pads by hand and soak and scrub etc, and they end up perfectly white. and then off to visit Beata and Ann in ?, I
have an address but my GPS,Michael, doesn't recognize it. That will be sorted out because I would never venture out without Michael telling me where to go.
Hope you are all doing well. I am missing everyone.
Communication at the shows seems to be my biggest challenge. The Hotel or the gastehaus which is separate from the hotel didn't have cell phone service or internet. The parking lot was fine for calling and the main hotel was fine but only for internet no cell phone service. then my Belgium phone doesn't seem to work very well in any other country and my Iphone decided not to get service for some reason. fortunately at the show i could get internet and got on line thru skype to rogers and I now have my iphone back
but only for emergencies.
Anyway, enough jabber, I am going to have breakfast and start the rest of my day.
cheers

Update From Bonny June 4, 2010:
Hi to everyone. I always need to look at a calendar to check the date. everyday is the same. We left on Wednesday afternoon. Rode in the AM at the Court. Wiebka of course is there to send us off. It was a very busy day. The owners of the stable, Mr. & Mrs Cordia were back from their winter home and along with Wiebka presented us with Jewel Court Stud jackets with there logo on them and Canada on the arm and the back. Not only that Dressage Canada also gave us jackets and a shirt. Yipee!!! Canadian STUFFFFF.
As we were about to leave I notice my tire was low on the car, oh yes a nail in it..bad timing as the horses and all our gear are now on their way and here we sit, BUT for only a short time. Actually time to have lunch. My tire was wisked off to the unknown by Ferdi (one of the people at Jewel Court) and back on in an hour. Infact not enough time to have lunch and yet more coffee. Yes I drink way too much coffee and perhaps tooo much bread and too many meals but some how my clothes are still hanging on me.
My old black boots were repaired and came back as new boots. I have broken in my brown boots, and my new black boots...ouch...a few sores behind my knees.
If you go on Roberts web there are the pictures of all of us. The show is beautiful, built in a parking lot, although it doesn't look like it. I did buy a small camera so hopefully my pictures will be better. I ride today at 1:06. All of us ride in the first section. Yesterday was very successful with Ashley coming 4th and Shannon 7th. Pikkers has picked up in his energy and has been going very well. the
challenge of course is to put it together at the right time.. Can't wait!!
Earlier this week my changes fell off---riding in my new boots and my timing was off..very frustrating and of course Eurodressage is there doing photos and interviews...bad timing. oh welll! Again I am so thankful for the GPS, named Michael, and he has an
English accent. He doesn't do well with the german pronunciations. Infact Wendy and I have been in tears laughing so hard because now we have missed our turn because what ever Michael said did not resemble anything. Even though we know where we are going now we have to put him on for a laugh.
It is time for Breakfast and to get to the show.
I wish you all a good day
will chat tomorrow.

Update from Bonny May 30, 2010:
How about that for a crowd. What a wonderful show.
Walk miles. The shuttle was the other side of the castle and the stable was equal distance the other way. Most of the shows seem to have a castle. In this park they have laid down knobby rubber mats and put sand on top. the footing was very good. wherever the horse went that was the footing. After the show the sand was removed and the mats picked up and there is the green grass and the park is back to normal. Quite amazing how they create these shows. It is raining today so we might have to train inside. We leave on Wednesday for Lingen. Train in the AM at the Stud. Jog is on Thursday and show begins Friday. Hope you are all doing well.
Special thanks to you Lisa, Arden, Lynely, and everyone else that not only participated in the organization of the Casino Nite but all those that came and contibuted that evening.
Your generosity is so appreciated, and taking time out of your day to be part of my journey is very comforting. Wish I could have been there. It feels like I have been away forever, it has been 5 months and it will be another 2 before I get home to see my family and hopefully do some teaching. I miss you all.
As I said to Betty, Wendy, who is one of my room mates loves to cook, so there will not be anymore possum stew, or any road kill. Thank god for that.. She whips something up in no time. I will always do clean up and anything else to keep the chef happy.
Pikkers has been turned out in a lovely grassy paddock and of course loves it. Still comes when I call him though, so I guess I am not quite chopped liver yet.
It is time for me to sign off. Must get breakfast and head to the stable.

Update from Bonny May 27, 2010
May 13
Well it is still cold. We are in our apartment which was a surprise as it was not available till the 15th. Had our first home made supper. We didn't even have to chase the chicken down. It was all ready for us to cook. How fortunate. Robert was here today and gave instruction. Short ride but great!! I think the sun may shine tomorrow so will take the pics.
May 15th
The sun is shining. Had a great ride. Pikkers is in such a different place in his focus.
May 16th
Yes it is still chilly although not when riding. Pikkers was again good today. Belinda & I found a lovely restaurant just 5 minutes from where we are living. We stopped for coffee and a cake. That will be the last cake for a while. But the best is the bread dispenser. Costs 1.80eu for a loaf of bread. They have them all over the place. Just stop on the side of the street. One thing, you never ago hungry. Tomorrow we are have the group over for dinner. Lasagna is on the menu.
I don't have a USB cord for my camera so I can't download my pictures, so tomorrow I will try to find a memory stick that works with the memory card.
We ride alone tomorrow, light ride and then a hack thru the forest.
I have to say it. I was nominated for the Red Scarf Athlete of month for April. Look on Dressage Canada web. I am thrilled.
I am now at the Wiesbaden show and what a show. We arrived about noon on the 20th. Total chaos. I am sure I walked 10 miles before the day was over. Legs ached and eye lids were heavy. The hotel is fabulous. Unfortunately my Belgium phone ran out of minutes and I don't know how to add minutes as all it does is ring busy. My training has been great even with all the jumping going on on the other side of the bleachers. People everywhere. Fountains and a jumbotron. Well my little country bumpkin has had quite an education and I will really know tomorrow how he fares. I ride at 3 PM. I don't have internet here so this message might be delayed. Will find a way to send this tomorrow. Thanks again all of you for your support. It means a lot to me. Thanks. Will chat again tomorrow.
May 27th
Back from Wiesbaden and what a show. I rode my first test on the Sunday and went quite well. Those of you who watched on clip my horse saw it live. I had a mistake in my 2's and my piaffe could be better. Always the last center line is great. Can still get an 8 for my passage.
We were stabled in a tent on the grass, needless to say when the weather got a little warm those tents were hot and humid. What a feeling riding up the corridor to the main ring. It had to have been 6 deep all the way from around the warm up to the big ring. Bleachers were full. I thought maybe PIKKERS might be a little nervous but he never batted an eye. And the people are very close.
OK the test from the second day wasn't so great. I didn't have a horse. He was tired and I struggled to get my piaffe and a mistake in the
2's and after the extended canter. He was just flat. I was very disappointed. SO now the first show is over and I know now how he reacts in an
environment like that. Rotterdeam and Aachen will be the same. Lingen I think will be a little quieter. I drove back with Shannon and we arrived back to the barn about 2,horses arrived at 3. I decided to have Pikkers checked and blood work done etc. Wiebka (the manager) met us and within 2 hours the vet was there and I had the feed I needed to increase Pikkers diet. I still shake my head at how wonderful she is and efficient.
Yesterday I actually turned Pikkers out one the grass in hopes he would just eat....NOOOOOO he had to tear up the grass and holler to the friesen in the next paddock. I will turn him out again today and maybe take him for a hack in the woods. That is something that he hasn't done (except for last week) as we don't have a forest to ride in back in Calgary.
I hope you are all fine and enjoying the beginning of summer.
Thinking of you all

Bonny, Belinda and Wendy in Europe! : Pikardi in Europe:
They are on their way!! - Picture Update May 17 2010

Update from Bonny in Kentucky May 8, 2010
I guess I can't call it a Florida up date anymore!!! It has been yet another adventure. Here I thought that the Safari was where it ended. As you know Betty left with Pikker's buddies on the 10th. In his quiet way he was quite stressed. By the time that I had packed up at the Safari and now have the trailer parked by the stalls to pack, Pikkers was really feeling something was happening. He became very anxious and unsettled. Several walks plus his training didn't seem to be the cure. Jean arrived on the 11th late. Even though it was just my stuff that had to be packed it seemed to take forever to get it all put in properly. There were other things that had to be done...wash the truck and trailer so that I could then have a very sore shoulder for the trip. Oh well what's another sore body part. Belinda Trussell took Pikkers (after her lesson) back to where she was staying so the transporter only had the one stop. They were loaded up Thursday at 6 PM. He had a box stall and a buddy. It took them till Friday 12:30 when they arrived safely. Belinda and her groom Alex were there to receive them, thank god. AS NOW THE ADVENTURE BEGINS:::Jean and I got as far as Perry Georgia and we had a break down. It is 3:30 in the morning and we are crawling into a gas station. Fortunately there was a fellow there, so I asked if he knew anything about diesel trucks....he said "i'm a trucker so I know all about them". How lucky for me. He said "let's have look under the hood". I think this might be your problem as he holds a broken clamp that keeps the hose attached to the tubo boost and then raises the disconnected hose. So he directed us to the Ford dealer which was only a mile down the road.
Jean & I are now a little pumped and know realizing that we are not going to be there ahead of the van. How easy can this be to put a clamp back on so we begin to relax and have a nap. We are first in line at the service area at a ford dealership...it is now 4 AM. By 6 we decide it is time for coffee so we circled the building to find an outlet to plug the coffee in. No such thing.
Service didn't open till 8:00. But they looked at the truck right away....they had to drive to the nearest city, Macon, to get a clamp. It is now 10:00 am. Now they have loaned us a car to go and have breakfast at the Cracker Barrel, expecting the truck to be fixed by the time we got back. It hadn't moved!!!! It is 12:00. They can't get it in before lunch, maybe after lunch they could have a look but in the mean time we could take the loaner and go shopping at the WALMART!!!! By now we are losing our patience. If there were more repairs necessary it wouldn't get down before Monday!!! Now Jean & I are very excited, tired and getting madder by the second. Pikkers has arrived in Lexington and we are a good 10 hours away. After some gentle persuasion from Jean the clamp was on in less than 10 minutes. The truck was test driven and off we went. It is now 1:00.
Pikkers was well looked after by Belinda & Alex and they also have stable nannies who check the horses every hour. The facility is like no other. The walk to the warm up was on the steeple chase course. Beautiful lush grass. So relaxing. What a perfect start to a warm up. Footing was perfect. The stadium was huge. The walk way into the stadium was the rubber cobble stone. People and officials everywhere. I had a great ride placing 3rd in my GP with a 68.638%. Presentations were for the top 3. Grooms came in to hold your horses while you stepped up onto the podium. How wonderful is that.
The next day was also another great day. I placed 2nd with a 70.26%. Yipeeeee. The rest of the afternoon was interviews and photo shoots.
(I said to not take any close ups!!) I think a week prior I was whining about not having my name mentioned anywhere. Well this is like going from 0 to 100 in a day. My score has qualified me to go to Europe. I am sitting 3rd in the canadian team rankings.
Plans changed over nite or shall I say in 7 minutes. Not going to NJ and am off to Toronto tomorrow. I think the plans to leave for Europe are the 10th of May.
Update from Bonny April 25th.
I am here at Oakcrest Farms where Belinda Trussell is. I turned Pikkers out yesterday in a round pen and tried not to look but he is looking so incredible. His body has changed - sleek lines and solid muscle. Today I will take my camera.
Yes there has been another gap.
Today is May 8th and we are traveling to the airport at 12:30. Today is going to be a long day as we will arrive in Amsterdam tomorrow (their time) 7:15AM. I am thinking that it will take a couple of hours to clear and then 2 or more hours to transport to the stable. The trunks and my luggage went on Thursday. Funny feeling to without all your stuff. As soon as I am settled with internet (hopefully) I will be in touch, I even have my camera handy!!!
I shall sign off. Must exercise Pikkers a little before we leave.
cheers

Update from Bonny April 10th, 2010
Well always an adventure around the safari. Great neighbors. Don & Bonnie were at the last show and took this picture. It was so nice to see them there.
OK I am very bad not up dating enough. I think by the time I get back to the trailer my brain has shut down. Let me see, this photo is from the White Fences show CDI. Since then I have done the show at WEF. What a place!!! there aren't words to describe this incredible show grounds. Over the winter season there must be over 5000 horses. Hunters, Jumpers, & Dressage horses.
You need to rent a golf cart to get around. Had mine for a total of 2 hours only to find that it had been taken. You could look forever and never find it. You can take the carts off the ground to any farm in the near or perhaps far....They have cart paths or bridle paths so those that are stabled elsewhere can just ride over to the grounds to show or to just school. The rental company did find it that god. My poor Pikkers had a rather unfortunate few days before the show. The rain came off the tent infront of him while he was in the cross ties and scared him and made him pull back only to have the snap from the wall come back and hit him in the mouth and break a tooth and he wrenched his neck. Not a happy camper. Tooth is fine but he was not comfortable. Next day infected eye. now we are off to the big show and I am a little concerned. Our Gp was not great as we had 3 major errors in movements that we get regularly. Got a chance to ride my freestyle the next day. I got my music the day before, so I haven't even ridden to it. It went quite well regardless of MY Tension!!!
Made a quick trip home after the show. Not really any time to visit with anyone, sorry. My family are hanging in there with lots of support. Though it was very hard to get back on that Plane and leave. It has been hard to make any more plans to get home as I don't always
know what is happening here. I guess Lexington with answer a lot of questions.
After Lexington I will go to NJ...Sue Bibbo's place... She owned Mikey and Satchmo. I think this might be the last sleep in the trailer for a while. Look forward to a little space. Will leave the Park tomorrow so my diet of possum might have to change. No more lions roaring. Have met some
very nice people here.
Betty left this morning at 6 am with the 2 boys, Deno & Encore. Sad to see them go. Will be a great ride for them. Wonderful guys, Mike & Ed
with Foothills. Nice to travel with someone you know. Not quite sure where they are at this moment.
I am going to say good nite as I was up a 4.
Up dates will be coming from different parts of the country.
Hope everyone is well.
cheers

Update from Bonny March 5th, 2010
Another show begins for me today. At least it won't rain this time. We are still on the routine of up a 5:15 to the sound of the coffee pot trickling. Actually someone leaves at 5:00 am so that is the first alarm. Finally went to the Safari park on Monday. was really fun. Had a chance to check out what might be for dinner later.
Last weekend I rode in a national show at White Fences. Pikkers was so very good..Saturday was a monsoon just for me. Wore my new tails and broke them in by getting completely drenched. I have to say it was not fun any more. couldn't hold my rains---had then wrapped around my hands, hair spray or something was running into my eyes and stinging----look Mom no hands and eyes!!!! the ring was a swimming pool. and it was cold!!!! Theme song was the theme song from the Titanic.
OK the next day was sunny and only chilly. no warm up area except the grass around the real warm up ring, which was uneven. The show ring only had water in the corners. Another 65.?%. getting tired of the 65%. Pikkers is constantly getting better. He does everything so well, just have to make it happen in the ring without a mistake. I have had only positive comments and lots of people impressed with him. Only wished we had been doing this for a year already. Looking forward to today. The show grounds are beautiful.
Dressage Canada actually gave out scarves!!!! First thing I've received. OK... I finally got a qualifying score of 66.809%. Yipee! Also came 7th out of 27 rides.
March 6-
Rode the GPS - 65.1% Not particularly happy with my ride. Not good enough submission. One mistake on the one's on the center line.
Will watch the freestyle today (7th). Looking forward to coming home after the next show. Will practice my freestyle this week. it will be fun. I have great music.
Also looking forward to visit from Jean and Bruce next show. Heather and Jim Thomas arrived to watch the show this weekend. Was
wonderful to see them. Shelley & Jim, I hope your trip to Naples was fabulous and golf was great. Thanks for your message Dee, sorry we didn't get together. Thinking of you.
Also a note to all riders. Wear you helmets. We are all praying for a miracle for the recovery of Courtney King Dye who is in ICU after her
horse fell and she fractured her skull.she holding her own.
I will sign off and up date you a little sooner next time.
Stay well

Update from Bonny Feb 8, 2010

What an interesting week. The masters have started. We watched the training today. It is always comforting that you are not the only one to have some difficulties. The facility is unbelievable. There are no words to describe the show grounds. Hunter and jumper rings everywhere. Friday night was the schooling under the lights in the stadium. It was so cold and raining, and the evening dragged on a little with very little entertainment other than the training and drinking to keep us warm. Saturday nite was the freestyle accompanied by a dreadful wind and cold temperatures. Dressed not nearly warm enough we dragged the blanket out from the truck (used it to cover the generator) which had a beautiful fragrance of gasoline. We sat in the TIKI with no ticky and after 2 rides and a meal we were asked to leave so we went with our glass of wine to the balcony instead and watched the rest of the freestyle. Anky won- Steffan 2nd, Isabel 3rd, Ashley 4th. My March 18th show will be held here. How exciting!
I had my schooling show on saturday, it was a trailer in for your class. Linda Zang judged.... how fortunate are we to have an "O" judge, judge at a schooling show!!!! Anyway she gave me a 67%. I was very pleased with Pikkers. It was the first time he was really with me. The mistakes were clearly mine, but I know that I can fix it...yipee! We are working very hard. Pikkers had a day off today, just a hand walk as he needed a little body rest. Pikkers is finally letting go of a few hairs, but after the last two days he may winter up again. Betty and Lynley are great and Deno and Encore are well too. Working beautifully. We have had to separate Pikkers and Encore's stall with a tarp to prevent them from fighting over the stall. What a racket!!!! Jaws and Scarface are finally peaceful although Scarface (Encore) is nibbling on the tarp.
Feb 8th.
We are back at the lions den for the afternoon to do some house work. Doctor Ubwell is trying to get Lynley over her cold. She is banned from
the trailer. She is sneezing and wheezing outside. the buzzards are circling but they are cautious. Last nite was laundry nite. Lost track of the number of driers we were using until we saw the jack pot with 21 minutes left-- of course it had to be ours-- fired the clothes in -- pulled out the dry clothes from there and a pair of men's underwear showed up.......OH MY GOD what have we done....Betty apologizing profusely to a very stern faced man who suddenly burst out laughing with the comment of "I don't think our bra size is the same. Socks and underwear were sorted out then--- Betty still apologizing on her hands and knees. Lynley was hiding behind the washers laughing. Lessons start again tomorrow. Trailer to the show on Thursday. Show Sat. & sun. Will be traveling home on Monday to visit and give a clinic Tuesday - Thursday. Fly back here Friday. Will make another trip after the March show. See what the boss says.
Hope you are all well and will be in touch soon.

Update From Bonny Jan27th
Well.. We had dinner tonight, not steak and lobster tho, we cooked up some possum on the Q. quite tasty. should try it. I think tomorrow we will add a vegi, yikes!!! Our boys are going well. encore and Deno are shedding like mad but Pikkers is not sharing a hair. although anything that ouches him has rubbed the hair off. Need to go a find a saddle pad that doesn't take the hair off.
Lynley and Kerry & Lisa, we look forward to your arrival.
Dee, I can't wait to see you!!!
Nora, I love your story about your search dogs. One day I would love to see you in action.
Ron, we are thinking of you under the weather.....snow. I guess a little rain isn't so bad. Stay warm.
Jill, How are you doing in your new place?
Road kill might be a steady diet, but as we are by the safari I am sure we will have variety. Lynn, I am doing Pilates 2 times a week. It has made me feel much better. I may not be marathon lean but I will be more flexible. Pikkers is working so well. Betty and I have down sized and this is our new dwelling:
I am sorry but we don't have room for visitors. We sleep in shifts. Bought a hen so we can have eggs. Over the next days we are going trapping in the Safari. We may have to scale the fence which could cause a problem for those over 55. We have meet some folks from seattle so we are going out for dinner but we are eating first so we can order off the kiddy's menu. Betty looked into having a hair cut but decided to grow a pony tail. We are just having a barley sandwich (beer) and some peanuts, then a shower, then back to the barn to feed the boys and tuck them in and then go for dinner. 5:30 rolls around quickly. We are having a great time. Lisa Wilcox is so much fun, what a nice gal.
It is wounderful guarantee to know we are on the right track. Now we have moved a notch to make it world class. Rumor has it that Pikkers had the best Passage of the whole show...last week. yipeeee! Looking forward to every day. Betty is wonderful and we have such a great time together. Not a day goes by without a laugh. That is my dear friend. Deno has been working so well and is as good as the rest of the horses here. Already can piaffe and passage a little. Fabulous. Encore has been doing his short work very well and I schooled him in the big field today and he loved it. He is a picture. It is time to close as the lions are roaring so it must be dinner time. Feed the puddy cats!!!!!
thinking of you all

Update From Bonny Jan 26
Early start to meet with the freestyle lady, Terry Gallo. We have chosen great music can't tell you what it is. The Lion King!!!! how about that!!!! It is great, we will have another meeting tomorrow to video it. and then she will put it together. Had my pilates today and she wasn't quite so horrified with the state of my poor old body. I guest I just have one side. the other is side has gone to seed although Jennifer has confidence in me that I can make it work. I went to use the internet at the stable as it works better there than here at the safari and I can't tell you how much activity goes on there---- Pilates at one end of the viewing area, hair dressing at the other end, meetings go on all the time, tv is on or the music is gently on. there are more trailer ins that you can imagine....eventing riders doing their dressage, canadians, and just the others!!!! Very busy place. Bought feed today---the horses are having steak and lobster and betty and i are having baked potato and beans!!!! Well it is time for a shower and some sleep-- another 5:30 morning. Will up date again soon. I have a schooling show Feb 6th. Just trailer in and ride and go
home.Same place as the last show. Linda Zang will judge. Big meeting with the Boss tomorrow at 4pm..
Has cooled off which is nice for us
Update From Bonny Jan 25th
Our theme song is The Lions Sleep Tonight.....Yes we hear them every nite. My 2nd ride ....OK I didn't get my changes but I was at a 71% until then.Ended up 64.1%. Robert insists that every ride be video (everyday training as well) so he makes you watch yourself ride. I just watched last nite and I was over the moon, that little Pikkers has his knees up to his nose and his hocks match. I even had those beautiful big suspended half passes. I think I need to watch it again!!!! Pikkers puts so much into his work the by the time I need to do a change he is too tense. Even though we only had one mistake in the ones... still a mistake..Tomorrow Terry Gallo is here to help with the freestyle so I should have that by the end of the week. Will be quite exciting. Have gone for feed----$23-$26 a bale. I think Betts & I will be be on a thinner program than we planned!!! There are more skeletons with britches on. We have never seen so many skinny people in the saddle rattling around.
Update From Bonny Jan 22
First day of the show. rode at 9:15am. 61.6?% but having said that I got all my changes, no mistakes, yipee!!!!. Where it went wrong was I tried to hard in the first 2 piaffes and I gave him little kick, not a good idea as he jumped around, was trying to get him back infront of my leg, anyway to make along story short i over rode on those 2 movements which set the tone of the test therefore not such a great score, but I was pleased with everything else. I have had such positive comments (on my test too) of how he is just a heart beat away from being spectacular. gives me lots of push. Everyone of the Canadians have some difficulties. Poor Robert, I think he was a little disappointed. He is one hard working man. He
doesn't stop from AM to PM. and he is very good. I couldn't be in a better place than here to make things happen. I haven't even had 2
weeks with him and already We are so much better in every aspect. Just wait!!! I have to say that it is very different from California. Betty is doing great. The horses are also doing great. it is so humid here that nothing dries. We have had a little rain which of course helps with the humidity!!!
The lions are still roaring at nite. Betty and I are going to the Safari next week. We can't wait any long to see what is happening on the other side of the fence. Even the turtles are crossing the road, had to swerve to miss them. We leave in the dark and come back in the dark. I have a horse nanny to check on Pikkers for nite feed and Am feed (5:30). A service they offer at the show for a cost of course. Need another fundraiser for all the incidentals. also check water and write the report down for me to read in the AM. I did tell her that Pikkers loves his food and is a bit of a barracuda if you go in the stall. Betty and I were thinking that the Nanny might have been his breakfast but thankfully there was no evidence, of remains although Pikkers looked quite content, as he was licking his chops when we came in. We didn't come across any road kill so we are going to bed without dinner. Just a barley sandwich. Nurse Betty has just come with my medication so I can be the energizer Bonny tomorrow. It is only 8:45 but I have to do as I am told. till tomorrow, Good nite
love Bonny
Update From Bonny Jan 21, 2010
Hot day with wind. I will ride at 12:00 and inspection at 1:00 and
jog at 3:00. Then a nap for us.
Again it is time for bed. I had a transporter take Pikkers to the show grounds as we didn't want to have to pack the trailer and move it, after all it is our home for awhile. I had a fabulous ride today, hopefully I can keep it together for tomorrow. I ride at 9:15am. There are 38 horses in the GP. I will send this off and up date you tomorrow. The show grounds are
beautiful and the cdi barn is better than most barns. I wish you good night and I thank you for all your support. Time to shut my eyes.
cheers bon
Update From Bonny - Jan 20th
Another great day. Internet at the campground is unreliable. Well I have to admit it feels like I have been here for months. Last week I finally got Pikkers head and ears clipped not without a little cocktail. With Betty and Lynley and myself we just got it done before he was just awake enough to tell us to take a hike. He does look better. Over the weekend there was a training camp so I got a chance to see the rest of the canadians who are declared. ( I am listening to the lions roaring- quite loud this evening) I have had such positive comments from everyone that have seen us work. Robert is so enthusiastic and he loves Pikkers. Saturday was training and Sunday was a mock show. Yes we had to braid and dress and then Robert warmed us up and then we rode the GP. Gary rockwell judged and gave me a 66% and Linda Zang and Robert both gave
me a 69%. Tomorrow we head off to the first show. It is only 15 minutes away from where I am stabled, tuny's- Stillpoint Farms. I will add to this tomorrow, in the mean time it is bed time.
Update from Bonny: January 7, 2009
Some of you already know that the horses arrived safely. Fedex was wonderful and on time. They brought the horses out on the pallet to the parking lot where we unloaded and loaded onto the trailer. It took all of 45 minutes from the time they landed to us driving away.
Yesterday we set up our tackroom and then the change began......
A little quiet hand walk as they were quite tired from their journey. That lasted for a grueling 10 minutes. Yes it was windy, cold, and they are now traveling buddies, trailers coming and going, horses that are still in their trailers are making a racket, just one more
thing to set Pikkers off. OH WELL!!!! time to ride him, at least i will have more control. He was itching to explode, but didn't. We exercised lightly and walked until he finally relaxed.
I have my first lesson on Saturday, which gives me 2 days to tidy him up. As you know it takes a while!!!!! Not his favorite thing, but by the time this trip is over I am sure he will "love it".He looks like he just came off the turnip truck! full clip will have to wait till it warms up. 3c last nite. Didn't bring enough cold weather clothes.
Jan.7th, Was quite warm. Bathed Pikkers and cleaned him up, evening did his Bridle path alone and he let me!!! Huge accomplishment. it is going to be cold on the weekend so clipping will be after that. Betty and Lynley are doing great. They rode today. Their horses have
also settle in nicely.
Camp at the Safari is always interesting. We hear the lions roar and the Rhino's bulging at breakfast time.
We have met a few of our neighbors. everyone is so very nice. Fletcher is doing more reno's to the trailer to make it more comfortable for the 3 amigas.
Robert gave me a little help today. It was great to get Pikkers started and someone to tell me what to do for a few minutes. yipee!!!!!
That is about it for now. My camera is getting warmed up, have taken a few. Will down load them and send them off.
Hope you are all well and staying warm.
cheers

Update: January 5, 2009
Bonny has arrived in Florida and has got all settled in. She is looking forward to Pikardi's arrival in Ft Lauderdale tonight around 7:00. Safe travels Pikardi!
An update from Bonny on her way to Florida, received at 11pm New Years Day:
Well, we are almost there.
1st day we drove to Emerson MB "Maple Leaf (LAFF) Motel - 1428km. It was -18c with a wind chill making it -28c. Our room was a 16x16 cinder block stall with frost on the edges, but the entertainment was our check in, waiting for "MAY" an ex trucker- who we phoned in the pub down MAIN street which was 5 minutes away. She was quite the character and very chatty, needless to say 35 minutes later with a free six pack in hand we got to our STALL. The bathroom mirror was really set for MAY who was 5'1". Standing in front of the mirror you can't see your head and we had a hard time making the hard rubber
stopper to stay in the sink. Hot water took 15 minutes to get luke warm. We almost overloaded the two plugs in the place.
2nd day - El Paso IL. -1348 km. A slight up grade to 20x20 "ROOM", same cost, free breakfast, no cinder block, bed with springs!!!
3rd day -Cordele GA. - 1334km. Another up grade - larger room although we had to cart all our stuff up to the 2nd floor. TV works.
4th day, arrive at the Lion Country Safari only 751km to go. about 2- 3 in the afternoon to set up camp!
The road system is amazing. And traffic as we approached Nashville was also unbelievable - and I am sure it will be the same all the rest of the way. It has been a very fast drive as the speed limit is 70mph although no one goes that slow. I've worn the treads of the truck!!! Illinois was the slowest at 55mph- and that was painful. We decided that perhaps the 55 mph for trailers didn't apply to us so -YES - we were exceeding the speed limit. Too many gas station tours that didn't sell diesel. A few U-TURNS to get back on track. We are looking forward to "slow food"!!!!
Tomorrow I am sure will be another adventure.
So good night for now
love
