Bonnie Whiting Smith, percussion

51'15.657" for a speaking percussionist is Bonnie's simultaneous performance of all of John Cage's 45' for a speaker and his 27'10.554" for a percussionist. This is a work of flexible length, and can be performed as an evening-length event, as a 5'07.154" interlude, or many divisions in between. Watch 8'45.298" for a speaking percussionist.

From Earth to Earth is an intersection of percussion and the spoken word. The music of Frederic Rzewski, John Cage, and Vinko Globokar meets text by Brecht, Ginsberg, Homer, and Whitman.  Masterworks from 20th century percussion literature are juxtaposed with with new music by Seattle-based composer Brandon Pettit, Bonnie's original composition for voice, percussion and turntable, and Jerome Kitzke's epic solo percussion piece, The Earth Only Endures.  See from Earth to Earth. Watch excerpts of this music on Bonnie's YouTube Channel.

Speaking Of and After Cage
