Merry Christmas from the Steele's!
Well now that that's out of the way we can get to talking about ourselves-one of our favorite things to do. This year's 'seasons greetings' letter is getting out a bit earlier than last year-it looks like we didn't get anything out until February! Perhaps this year has been a bit smoother. For those of you following the blog, you are slightly up to speed with us, but for those of you who haven't read anything this year don't worry. Check it out for an update on spring vacations and some pix, but I'll fill you in right here-right now.

Tyler is steadily finishing is BS in digital media. With 3 B's and 3 A's for the 2009 fall semester, he dives into spring 2010 head first! This will be his last full semester during which he will complete his senior project with Mothers Without Borders. He will finish off a few more classes during the summer and will hopefully get his degree by August 2010! He also is having a great time at work running the lights and sound at UVU's Ragan Theater.

Cass is also closing in on her degree. Once again its changed. Well not really changed-you see math just stinks. Actually UVU's math department stinks and because it is taking so long to get finished with math, she decided to just go ahead and continue with a BA in speech communications rather than an AA. Perhaps after fall 2010 she will be ready to graduate, but again it depends on math. Her new job however keeps her busy so school may just take a bit longer than planned. As the pantry assistant in UVU's Dining Services, she works early hours making exciting salad and snack trays.

Can we both say thank goodness for on campuss jobs?! We are so blessed to both be students, that work, and only have to commute once! It helps a lot with our new little additon. Everyone please welcome Matey! The cutest kitten you'll ever meet! After Cass' co-worker Maria asked, "What do you want for your birthday?" Cass never expected to actually get a kitten, but she did and here he is! We sure love him and hope those who have met him do too!

I guess it's time to update! We aren't really sure how to keep this going. We all ready have a blog that is lucky to get updated, but when I looked at this to see what was going on, I realized that the 2008 Christmas Letter was getting a little out of date. So here I am not blogging (although I'm behind) and updating the 'website'. I guess you could call it one of those moments when just did it because you had to. The spirit, inspiration, premonition, whatever you want to call it, but I'd better listen just to be sure.

Anywho, we'd better bring up to speed the 'website' so for more detailed stories refer to the blog (bondsofsteeleblogspot.com), but for a quick run-thru here goes.

Ty is working at UVU's Regan Theatre as the lighting and sound manager and he is loving it! Meanwhile, I am in the market as it were, putting it out there, but still waiting. I guess I can focus on school in my downtime. Seeing as Ty's job totally rocks with him being a student and all, we decided to stick around and finish our degrees at UVU. We should both be finished up by the end of next summer (August 2010). Ty will get  his BS in Digital Media, emphasis in sound and I'll have my AA in Communication and a BA in English. It seems so boring to always tell about school, but that's all we're doing at the moment.

Guess this'll due for now, better pay attention to Elder Lewis now! (Ry's missionary site)

February 11, 2009

End of year letter, Christmas card, season's greetings, happy new year-whatever you want to call it, we are finally delivering it.

This has been another busy year for the Steel's. It seems all you hear us do is mostly work and school with a little play mixed-that's about it. Three more semesters at UVU have gone by in a flash. The latest semester, fall 2008, kept Tyler especially busy. With six classes (18 credits) each having several different projects to complete, he's just touched the tip of the iceberg. He's looking at 18 credits in the spring, another 18 in the summer, 18 more next fall, and 15 in the spring of 2010 to get him graduated by May 2010! He'll be graduating with is BS in Digital Media with an emphasis in audio/sound. As if school isn't enough, he's also looking for internships (if anyone has any ideas wink, wink). He got a taste of live audio while being on the tech crew for UVU basketballs games and now can't get enough. Too bad that pesky job thing gets in the way, bills and whatnot to pay-you know, but he's been plugging away at Digis and doesn't come home pounding his head against the wall so it'll do for now.

Cassidee on the other hand, has been having a fairly easy time in school. Starting last August she got awarded a work-study grant with UVU. She is a teaching assistant with Dr. (Doc) Sandie Waters, the technology professor in UVU's Education Department. She is having a blast! But before you go off thinking she's on easy street don't-she has to start math in the spring and we all know that's no piece of cake. She will continue with work-study thru spring semester and then we'll just have to see what happens in the summer. Thanks to Village Inn working around her crazy school schedule, she still works there and loves being the Saturday expo! Cass is looking forward to graduating in the fall of '09 with her AA in Communication, then the focus will be on getting Tyler finished. She'll figure out the rest of school once he gets an internship or a 'real job'. She still intends on going into the world of teaching, but the subject, the age group and the place are all on hold until further notice.

We are bringing our letter to you via our Google Website. This is something Cass discovered while aiding Doc. Google is now Cass' best friend and she constantly plays on it. Check out the Navigation Menu on the right side of the page. You'll see links to pages devoted to Cass and Tyler (in blue)-these are works in progress, we're just kinda testing the waters. Below the count-down are links to our family blog (Bonds of Steel blog) and our individual blogs (Teej and Cass Anne). Under all those you can find pictures, projects, blog postings, and random stuff. We live on the web and we figured this would be the best way to show us off! You've all probably been reading our blogs, but that's where you can find Tyler's projects, my final article for journalism and a ton of pix! I would suggest adding this website to your favorites as it has links to all our blogs etc. It'll be the best way to keep up with us--that is if we can keep up too.

Thanks to all of you who support us and keep us in your prayers. We are working hard and playing hard but we know we can't do it alone. We know we don't call, email or visit as much as any of us would like, but we love you and want to let you know that some day we will graduate and be a little more open in our schedule.

Next year has great expectations and promises not to disappoint. Riley is preparing for his mission, leaving sometime after June 1st. Dawna is throwing a huge reunion which we are looking forward to. Kevin has invited us on a quick get-a-way in early February. We always have the houseboat. I hope plans for Loa are still on. And then there are all the fun surprises that come with life itself! We can't wait!

Love,
Cass & Tyler

PS

Be sure to check out the St. George link. Kevin and his team have worked really hard on the website and they are very proud! Keep an eye out for Tyler-he is in one of the pictures and will be in a future commercial. You know the one you see with every Jazz game. And yes, that is Kevin's voice in case you were wondering.
