Heli: Trooper 4 fly out

posted Feb 17, 2012 3:02 PM by Bo Kohut   [ updated Feb 17, 2012 3:09 PM ]

Officers were dealing with a prior accident between vehicles @ I95 and I495 Southbound split which involved 18 wheelers on each side of the road when a possibly 41-77 lady creamed a stopped rig on the shoulder.  She was said to be conscious and alert from what the officer said was a "serious PI-1010".  Enjoys the pix of the heli coming in for transport to the hospital.  Cameras are from Deldot facing into PA and Penndot facing into DE.

Forgot my EZPass?

This guy took about one hour to back up about one mile from the EZPass speed lanes.  The police never showed even after repeated calls from passerbys.  He nearly cause a handful of accidents as his backing skills were that of a teenager.  Don't forget the several times he stopped and got out of his van apparently looking at things on the shoulder.

Just some tool that was parting hard then decided to drive and cause several hit and runs until he ran no more...

Fully engulfed.

I stalled on posting this as the software I use takes some learning.  I'm a stickler for free software to keep me learned.

Drunk driver ran a light and compressed a car while pushing it through the intersection.  The car was then fully engulfed.  I did not find this accident in the news nor know the results to persons involved.

I have a ~4min video of the actual fire with response in action but being 80 Mb I cannot host it here.

Holiday spirit.

Not the kind you drink if you plan to drive - at least in Delaware.  2010 Bok

The first post...

I set this up to track and record various doings of mine.  It may stick around or not - Leave comments for influence either way.

My mom bought a Bearcat scanner in the late 80's and I listened to it all the time.  Back in that era the scanner would pickup cell phone conversations believe it or not and many a late night I would listen to cheating spouses.  I believe I still have a mini audio cassette recording in the basement with a 'cheating' convo on it.

I seem to be fixated with real time occurrences maybe that is why I do what I do.  I multitask a lot and just as people can listen and perform others tasks simultaneously I choose to listen to law enforcement and write code.  Not having a TV at home and always being online I find various non work means to have fun even while working.  I have been trying to determine the best way to record the actions but unlike TV shows anything can happen at any time so one must always be ready.   I architect and code real time systems so something like this is a fun challenge... Right?

Earlier this week a high speed car chase occurred where the suspect evaded capture and I listened and watched it live.  Some very interesting conduct occurs from the responding troopers and to hear and see it live is something gripping, think of the OJ pursuit with police narration - if you are old enough to recall the pursuit.  I recall as it was yesterday as I was in college at the time and had just returned from a date and watched it for what seemed like forever - gripping.  I believe in some sense that this event is the inspiration for reality TV shows but then again nothing beats the real thing.

So tonight someone we will call the "suspect" robbed a liquor store with a shotgun and the dsp were in action with ALPR technology.  It was stated by a witness that the "suspect" was seen getting into a late 90's model civic or small hatchback so thus the ALPR call.  At the same time troopers were going door to door in the area checking on the well fair of residence in the area.  Aside from a helicopter, K9 tracking and what was at least 15 law enforcement officers from various local jurisdictions setup in a layered perimeter around the area the suspect evaded.  I have included a mp3 segment of the Automatic License Plate Recognition vehicle convo and a swf clip showing a trooper setup at an exterior perimeter point.

The nice thing about listening and watching is you get NO media spin on what happened - Nothing is an opinion other than what you yourself interpret and form.  I am yet undecided but I may link the news story if it gets released - yes, what one sees as news worthy does not always get publicized.
