West Park Centre
The former gymnasium. From the Yorkshire Post, Wednesday, December 10, 1952 : No visitor to the school can fail to be impressed by the two spacious gymnasia – one for boys and one for girls. These are both on the upper floor and are fitted out with the most modern physical training equipment. They are amongst the first school gymnasia in the country to be fitted with a swinging wall bar which can be moved out and fixed to the floor at right angles to the main wall bars. The opposite walls have a brick surface for padder tennis and other indoor ball games. Each gym has a small balcony at one end. Changing rooms for boys and girls with thermostatically controlled shower baths and store rooms for games equipment are on the ground floor.
Main Hall, Royal Park School
This hall appears to have doubled as a gym with gym equipment left in place. In fact the whole place looks like it was just abandoned on the last day of term as there are pictures drawn by the kids still on the wall, toys left abandoned and books lying around. This shot is actually 3 shots taken of exactly the same scene but with 3 different exposure levels combined to form an HDR image.
