Meet our officers! These are the students elected by Drama Club members to serve as officers of the Drama Club. Here you can learn a bit about them, as well as what they would like to do for you.President Brittany Holland
| Brittany is a SEN10R and a proud four-year-baby of AMT. She's been in
drama club all four years now, holding the officer position of
Secretary last year. She's
performed in "Bye Bye Birdie", "The Pajama Game", and "L'il Abner" and
was Assistant Stage Manager of our Cappie-award-winning production of "A Midsummer Night's
Dream".
Why did you run for office? Running for
President was something I was passionate about doing for most of my
junior year, and after such an epic year, I knew I wanted to keep that
passion, alive for all the new members this year.
What do you want to accomplish? 1O
MORE CAPPIE NOMINATIONS! Last year 2564 rocked in every aspect
imaginable, and keeping those bragging rights is a goal of mine and all
of my fellow officers. Also, the most rewarding thing to have heard at
the end of the year last year was how welcomed everyone felt in Drama
Club and keeping that bond tight between everyone is very important to
me..so WELCOME :]
| Vice President Samantha Millich
|
I'm a senior, and a four year drama baby. I teched
"Cheaper by the Dozen", "Bye Bye Birdie", and "The Pajama Game"; I also
performed on stage in "Death by Chocolate" and our Cappie-award-winning production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream".
Why did you run for office? I ran for office because the very thought of
being an officer for Troupe 2564 delighted me. It's been my family for
three years now, one that I cherish with all my heart, and I am honored
to help lead.
What do you hope to accomplish? My goals for this year are to get more kids to join this
amazing troupe, to have more thespian inductees than we have ever had,
and for them to be motivated and influenced by theatre culture.
Winning isn't everything, but.. I would love for us to recieve more than 10 Cappie nominations, a great way to top last
years accomplishments! | Secretary Abby Jaros
| Abby Jaros is a Junior, and a third year Drama Club Member.
She was a Steam Heat Dancer in “The Pajama Game,” and Dance Captain
for “Li’l Abner” in which she also portrayed the part of
Dogpatch Wife, Carmen. Every day she looks forward to attending the Drama and
American Musical Theatre classes offered at Boca High.
Why did you run for office? My love for the theater has grown directly as a result of my
taking Drama and AMT classes and participating in theater productions at Boca High.
To me, it is exciting and important to be part of such a talented group of
people; and to become one of the leaders is a dream come true. I am well
organized, and I am VERY excited to be a part of what looks to be a fantastic
year ahead!
What do you want to accomplish?
As an officer, I feel it is important to make sure that
everyone in Troupe 2564 feels that they “belong” in such a diverse
Club, and I would love to encourage some more “Drama Junkies” to
join! I want to help provide an environment where each Drama Club Member looks
forward to the next meeting or activity. I will forever love Troupe 2564! | o-Treasurer Kevin Gish
| Kevin, a junior, is new to Troupe 2564 and the very art of theatre. A former
varsity runner, he joined American Musical Theatre and whether by
random chance, illegal means, or pure luck he received the part of Li'l
Abner in last year's spring musical, Li'l Abner.
Why did you run for office? I ran for office because I wanted to be as involved as possible in
the one thing that I love- theatre arts. As an officer, I have a
legitimate reason for coming to every event an hour early and generally being a
theatre addict. Hopefully our lovely director will let me have a cot in
the loft.
What do you hope to accomplish? I hope to see One Act and Individual Event competitions be more
successful than ever! We have so much talent this year it'd be a
shame if we didn't garner any Critic's Choices. I hope to inspire all
new and returning members to put in a great deal of effort towards
these events, because the only difference between ordinary and
extraordinary is just that little "extra."
| Co-Treasurer Marlyn Massalone
|
Marlyn is a junior and has been a part of AMT all three years that she
has been at Boca High. She is a brand-new member of the International
Thespian Society. She's performed in "The Pajama Game" and "Li'l Abner"
Why did you run for office?
I ran for office because after such a trememdous, exciting, and
fantastical year I decided I just had to become more involved with
everything drama.
What do you want to accomplish?
A year filled with Critic's Choices, Cappie nominations, and "Best
Musical" awards! I want this year to be even more SUPERIOR than last
year! Also, I would love Drama Club to become a safe, amusing, and
relaxing outlet from everyday academic stresses for everyone.
| Historian Paige Belcher
| Paige Belcher is a sophomore and really loves where this is going.
She's worked on all three shows last year (Mustardseed in the
Cappie-winning "A Midsummer Night's Dream", stage crew for "Lil' Abner,
and sound crew for the original "Not So Happily Ever After") She
intends to act in every show possible this year, but wouldn't mind
teching them, either.
Why did you run for office?
I ran for office because I'm extremely passionate about drama. I mean,
it's pretty much all I do. Is that sad? Maybe to you, but I'm just fine
with it (: As a freshman I was all over every drama thing I could be
in, and I intend to keep that up. Being an officer is the best way to
do just that. It doesn't hurt that I love the troupe either.
What do you hope to accomplish?
I intend to give off the same feel that the officers gave off last
year: love and acceptance. Coming in, I had literally no friends. Until
I met the troupe, of course. I know that there's always a few (or more)
freshman and transfered kids who are in that situation, so I really
hope to help them out and help them feel the love that I felt. Another
thing that I'd love to do is find some more full-time techies. With the
season coming up, I'm sure we'll need more than usual. Finally, I'd
absolutely love to create the best scrapbook to exist south of the
North Pole, and I intend to do just that. Watch out, because I'll be
taking your picture as soon as you stop looking at me! | Sergeant-At-Arms/Webmaster Austin Powers
| Austin is a junior, and has been involved in every major Boca High stage production since the beginning of his freshman year. He has performed as John Stone in "Death by Chocolate" (Fall 2007) and was nominated for a "Best Featured Actor" Cappie for his role as Demetrius in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (Fall 2008). When not on stage, he has worked as a sound engineer and also received a Cappie nomination for his lighting design work on "A Midsummer Night's Dream".
Why did you run for office? After what I feel was a phenomenally successful '08-'09 season, how could I not stay on as an officer? I want to reach new heights of utility and popularity with our website, and continue to be a part of this amazing group.
What do you hope to accomplish? I'm going to try my darnedest to keep this website up to date, first of all. I'm hoping for an even greater group of Drama Club members than last year, and wherever this season takes us I know that it's going to be good. |
