I have written two papers on the subject of slide rule scales and presented these at the International meeting of slide rule collectors in Europe. The first concerned Electro slide rules, i.e. those rules that had specific scales for the calculation of electrical problems. This was presented at the "International Meeting of Slide Rules & Historical Calculating Instrument Collectors" IM 2007 in Holland. The second concerned a little known scale called the Ln scale which was a feature of the Pickett Slide rules. This was presented at the IM 2008 in England. The paper describes the the design of "Elektro" rules and questions the layout of the scales on such rules and their usefulness. The Ln scaleThis paper, presented at the IM2008 in Leamington Spa, examines the Ln scale which was used almost exclusively on Pickett Slide rules.
