WinQuake and SAC Utility Programs

WINQUAKE FILTERING, SCALING, and DOWNSAMPLING

This program will benefit all those who prepare WinQuake event files.

   WQFILTER.exe (with WQFilterHlp.txt)

The features include:

(1) Logging of all operations done by WQFilter in the data operations field of the output WinQuake file
(2) Low pass and high pass filters that are better than the ones in WinQuake (in my opinion).
(3) A special period-extending filter. See examples of the filter at work here.
(4) Ability to paste in a NEIC event report string from:    http://earthquake.usgs.gov/recenteqsww/Quakes/quakes_all.html  (if you delete any tabs), or from:ftp://hazards.cr.usgs.gov/cnss/cnss_14.fing
(5) Ability to edit the Data Operations field of any WinQuake Type 4 file.
(6) Heliplot and detail display screens.

CONVERSION OF WINQUAKE FILES TO WAVE AUDIO

  PSN-to-WAVE.exe

Listen to events, or save as .wav audio files.

CONVERSION OF SAC BINARY FILES TO WINQUAKE OR TO WAVE AUDIO
Although WinQuake can also convert SAC files, this utility works a little better.

   SAC_to_PSN.exe

Inspect complete contents of SAC file header.
Convert SAC binary event files to WinQuake format.
Listen to events, or save as .wav audio files.

Download "winquake_utilities.zip" below. (updated October 11, 2011) (Improved "Save Output" on WQFilter)

NOTE: This site contains applications written Visual Basic 6.0. Not all systems have the runtime files necessary to run VB6 programs. If you should experience run-time error messages, please download "WQFilter.zip", extract the contents, and execute the setup program. After successful installation, you will be able to run any of my applications as they are.
