FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BNL VOCAL MUSIC PROGRAM CAROLS AND MADRIGALS

The Bedford-North Lawrence High School Vocal Music Program is proud to announce two Madrigal Dinner performances of Traditional English Christmas Carols and Madrigals on Friday, December 12th, and Saturday, December 13th. The Dinners will take place at the First Christian Church in Bedford, located at 1101 15th Street at K Street. The Church's doors will open for seating at 6:30 PM and the event will last approximately two hours. Reservations are $20 per person and may be placed by calling the BNL Book Store at (812) 279-9756.

BNL Vocal Music Program Director, Brian Samarzea, explains, “A Madrigal Dinner is a truly unique experience for both the audience and the performers. It's a re-creation of a Renaissance-era feast where the host would provide food and entertainment for the guests. For this event, we're focusing on the kinds of feast celebrations that were held on the Twelve Days of Christmas. Those feasts combined the joyous celebration of Christmas just passed and the sacred solemnity of preparation for Epiphany.”

Mr. Samarzea continues, “The students of the Vocal Music Program will present during the dinner several Traditional English Carols and other songs. These are all the Christmas Carols we know and love, and we're all excited about being able to perform them for our guests in one place at one time.”

BNL Music Department Chair, Guy Rumsey, serves as the Music Director at the First Christian Church and has been instrumental in coordinating the efforts between the High School and The Church. Mr. Rumsey has enlisted the help of congregation members, led by Nancy Maines, to cater the dinner. According to Ms. Maines, guests can look forward to servings of roast beef and turkey, scalloped potatoes, green beans, plum cake, wassail, and possibly some other delicious surprises.

Ms. Maines, Mr. Rumsey, and Mr. Samarzea all emphasize that it's important to make your reservations early. Seating is limited for each performance, and an accurate guest list is important to make sure the guests have the best experience.

The BNL Book Store is taking reservations of $20 per person for the dinners and may be contacted at the High School's main number: (812) 279-9756. The dinners are table seating, so guests who wish to ensure they sit together should make their reservations together, or indicate their desire to sit with the other party when making their reservations.

Individuals, families, or groups who wish to sponsor a whole table (seating for 8) may do so for $250 by calling Mr. Samarzea at the High School, or Stephen Paulsen of Proscenium Arts and Entertainment at (812) 275-2298. Table Sponsorship details are available from either Mr. Samarzea or Mr. Paulsen.
