While Cap and Trade just barely made the hurdle in the House and faces an interesting fight in the Senate, Mike 123's observation about nominating process is the key. As long as "two party" politics rules the roost here in Georgia, you can only expect more of the same old, same old. In our last election in 2008, 62 incumbent Democrats and 82 incumbent Republicans had no opponents due to Georgia's heinous ballot access laws. As long as this law stands as it was written in 1943, most Georgians will never have real choice at the ballot box. The Democrats won't poach on the Republican's approved and set aside plantations and the Republicans will reciprocate. Georgians will lose out. For an interesting read in redistricting, cruise over to Tondee's Tavern and read the work of the mysterious Unknown 285. An impressive tome on social engineering via the gerrymander. Lastly, if you would like to see a ballot that has at least three
choices on it for statewide races here in Georgia, then cast your vote
for Libertarian John Monds for Governor. If he breaks the 20% barrier
in next years election, then the Libertarian Party will not have to
comply with Georgia's Jim Crow petition law and the days of the
Democrat/Republican Plantation system will be ended. A noble cause and
a noble goal. Vote Libertarian! Vote John Monds for Governor! Posted by: TANSTAAFL | June 28, 2009 08:48 AM |
