This means that I am not a company or an organization, which means I don't have insurance or anything like that.
I work based on the honor system and my best judgement. I do a meet and greet before accepting a client. This meeting allows us both to make our best judgement on the situation. I don't work with aggressive animals or aggressive people. I just want to help people take the best care of their best friends. I don't want to worry about being sued if an accident happens, and I don't want you to worry about that either. Accidents can happen, but I've never had anything happen to any of the pets I've cared for. I won't accept responsibility for accidents. I won't expect you to take responsibility for accidents. I don't think this system is anything that normal people wouldn't follow anyway, but I just want people to be aware of these things.
Payment policy. If you are hiring me for an extended period of time, I will require either full payment in advance or half in advance and half after.If you are hiring for a short amount of time, I will leave you a bill with my address. You can either mail me the payment so that I receive it within 5 business days, or drop the payment off to me within 5 business days. Entry into your home.
I will accept access to your home however you want to provide it while you're away. I'll take a spare key to keep with me, use a spare key hidden near the home, or enter through an unlocked door. I will take care of the safety of your home in the way that you tell me to, which leaves you responsible if it is compromised. I have never had a home broken into or stolen from while I was watching it, but I won't be responsible if you leave a door unlocked and someone takes advantage of that. Rest assured that if you give me a key, I will always lock the door when I leave. I also will never tell someone I don't know that I'm pet-sitting for you, and I take care that no one is watching when I return a key to a hiding place if that is what you've asked me to do.
Emails.
I use emails as my paperwork. I save all my emails from you and from me to you. This will provide record for me of your requests and statements. If you ever need a copy of an email you sent me, please let me know.
Deposits.
Although not required, I won't consider you as "booked" until I have a deposit from you. This deposit should be 30% of the fee for the total services. If you cancel at any time after that, your deposit will not be returned. However, if I do not receive a deposit from you, I may book the dates you requested. Deposits are applied to the fee for services. However, there may be times when I strongly suggest a deposit if the care for your pet will greatly restrict my ability to take on other clients or it is a busy time of the year. |
