I am a retired scientist who is actively blogging and participating in the AdSense to earn some pocket money to supplement my pension as I am still supporting 2 college going sons.
I use Blogger for almost all my blogs. I host my blogs with Blogger (blogspot) which is free as I don't want to have the hassle of paying and renewing subscription for domanin name and hosting fees. I plan to write a post on how you can easily do that with Blogger and AdSense in the near future. Now I don't have to pay out a single cent, but receive a monthly check from Google AdSense. In the almost 3 years that I have been blogging, I have learn a couple of things, and I also participate actively in the Google Blogger Help group. I found that members frequently ask for solutions to the same problems, so I started a blog Dummies Guide to Blogger Classic. It started with the Header "Blogger for Dummies" but later, someone alerted me to the fact that "for Dummies" is a trademark of Wiley Publication Inc. and one fine day, I may be contacted by them to take down the site. So the header has gone through a couple of changes until it ended with the current one. So whenever someone ask a question which is best answered by referring him to the relevant post on the blog, I do that. From the comments and emails I received, I believe that the blog do help bloggers, particularly those who are relatively new. They find the posts easy to understand. As the blog has already been indexed by the search engines, and I have inbound links, and I believe that the URL is not an infringement of the trademark, bloggers still find the blog useful, so I did not delete the blog, but started a new one at Blogger Tips and Tricks. I now seldom update the old blog, but integrate the old blog with the new one by putting a Google multi-sitesearch bar and incorporate the new posts in my new blog in the CATEGORIES in the sitebar so that visitors can still find new posts to read by using the sitesearch bar and the CATEGORIES.
I have intention to write an online book for bloggers using Google Blogger for their blogs, but held off because of the roll out of Blogger Beta. I was holding off because I was waiting for Blogger Beta to stabilse, and also I am not sure of how I want to structure it. It will probably consists of random posts as I find new topics to write about, especially when I get requests or questions from bloggers, and have a sticky post (a post which always stay at the top of the main {index} page of the blog) which will be a kind of CONTENT page. However, recently I received a few questionns from readers of my blogs which I feel is best answered by a post on my intended online book, so I made a few posts. The blog is Dummies Guide to Google Blogger. I think I made a good start as the reader of my blog commented that it was a big help and it was like having a person by her side guiding her step-by-step. This time, there will be no question of trademark infringement as there is no "for Dummies" anywhere, either in the Header or in the URL.
My first blog is an environmental blog Enviroman Says. I have other environmental blogs. They are:
Environmentally friendly greeting cards
Zero Energy Input Waterwheel Aerator
Backyard Organic Farming
When Google Blogger started their Blogger Beta, non of my blogs were invited to join the beta program, so I started a tests beta blog at Testing Blogger Beta. As I am a Malaysian, I also started another beta blog using the same Blogger beta account and the blog is Guide to Malaysia. I hope you will visit my beautiful country one day.
