Red Plaid OOAK Dress/Hat

I wasn't going to, but couldn't resist. A complete hat and dress outfit for Blythe! When I made the hat, I thought, "now what will I find that will look completely fantastic with this hat?" Oh course, a matching outfit! So I made one. This is my own OOAK design. Strapless red/green/cream plaid cotton mini-dress. Pleated front with an asymmetrical pseudo kick pleat to one side to give it a bit of extra flirtiness. Machine edged red tulle lower half for extra panache and flirtiness. Hits to just above the knees, but looks even more daring because it is see-through to upper thigh. Plaid fabric covers bottom, so is still within the rules of modesty. :) Lowered waist, red grosgrain ribbon band with rolled rose and green/tan button flower center at front. 2 metal snaps (poppers) at back, sewn down. Seams professionally finished. Dress is 3" from top of plaid to bottom of plaid, 4" total length. Matching red plaid tophat. 5-1/2" at brim, 4" tall, 11" head opening. Embellished with machine edged red tulle wrapped around sideband, ending in random bowiness and long trailing sashes. A red feather plume and 2 tan flat feathers add further interest. Mom: Yeah, I always had candy canes. Me: You did Tommy's hair. Mom: Yes, but it was just combed. There weren't things like gels or anything. Me: Well, you used to use hairspray on mine a lot. Mom: I did? Me: Yeah! Mom: I don't remember that. Me: This might've been for only a year or so, but you'd spray Vidal Sassoon hairspray on my head. My hair would be tacky for most of the morning at school, and then gradually loosen up during the afternoon.
