Dorchester Bay Youth Force is a community organizing group that
works to empower youth to fight for social change within their
communities.
Youth Force is currently seeking youth (ages 13-18) who
have a strong interest in community involvement and would like to
participate in the upcoming training session beginning May 1st for the
Youth Leadership Institute (YLI).
The Youth Leadership Institute works
to teach youth about community organizing and how it can help them to
create positive change within their communities. Not only will youth who
take part in the YLI training learn community organizing skills, but
they will also develop leadership, build relationships with their
communities and beyond (networking), and grow both personally and
professionally.
Along with this, YLI participants will have the
opportunity to receive credit hours for community service or earn a $50
stipend.
The YLI is broken down into six, two hour sessions (4pm-6pm) on
Tuesdays and Thursdays over the course of 3 weeks.
Youth Force is
asking for your support in selecting candidates who would be interested
and could positively contribute to the YLI. Above I have attached the

Learn Arabic this Summer!
The
Arabic Summer Academy is a four week intensive (Monday through
Saturday) Arabic course for 60 high school students from Boston Public
Schools and other schools in the Boston area.
Here are five great reasons why you should apply:
1.
Learning Arabic is special! Boston Latin Academy and Charlestown High
School are among a handful of public schools in Massachusetts that offer
Arabic. There are very few schools in the entire country that teach it
right now!
2.
Arabic will help you get into college! College admissions officers are
always looking for students who are different and stand out. You'll be
one of only a few students in all of America who has studied Arabic.
You'll stand out!
3.
You'll get high school credit! After you graduate from our program, you
will have a full year of high school Arabic. It's a great way to get a
graduation requirement out of the way!
4.
We'll pay you! Every student who graduates from our summer program will
earn a $500 college scholarship. That'll buy a lot of books when you
get to college!
5.
You'll set yourself up for great jobs! Arabic is a "critical need"
language, which means that companies and the government will pay over
$100,000 for your skills. Start your learning now!

The study of Computer Science can be challenging and fun, and Google wants to inspire these students – the innovators of the future – to become active participants and leaders in creating technology. Program goals:- To enrich the skills of students early in their CS studies in an effort to increase the pipeline into the CS major and/or boost retention in the major
- To provide a social and professional network for underrepresented populations in technology
- To empower students, giving them the tools, motivation and confidence to continue with CS studies
- To show students daily life at Google and the amazing applications of CS that are taking place
In this program, students will experience a multi-faceted view of Computer Science that reflects its broad range of domain and application areas. They will learn about all aspects of CS, from its impact on our society and culture to the role it plays in our work and personal lives.

Governor
Deval Patrick has prioritized ending youth violence in our communities,
and as part of a multi-facet strategy created the Governor’s Statewide
Youth Council to incorporate youth voices into the policy-making
process. The
Youth Council serves as a critical resource in advising the Governor in
making decisions and setting policy to improve the lives of young
people throughout the Commonwealth.
Current
Youth Council members are now serving their second and final term. The

represent Massachusetts’ 14 counties, two Council members per county.
Members serve for 2 years. We are now aggressively seeking to contact
and recruit potential candidates throughout the state to apply for
membership in the Youth Council.
Youth
Council applicants should be passionate, motivated and emerging leaders
between the ages of 14 and 20. Their responsibilities will include:
attending monthly meetings and conference calls, advocating for youth
issues and incorporating the ideas of other youth and young adults into
the creation of effective policy.
The
Youth Council has advocated on various issues in the Patrick-Murray
Administration; including the historic anti-bullying legislation that
Governor Patrick signed in May 2010. To learn more about activities,
initiatives and trainings that the Youth Council has participated in
