Khan Kluay Development Development art for the Thai film "Khan Kluay". The art team and I worked together for a year just getting the look of the film down. Basing images on the script that co-director Aaron Sorensen, and writer Ariel Prendergast , and I were putting together. There were some amazing artists at Kantana, including my pal, production designer, Prachanue "The Nue" Noree, who helped lead the art team. Khan Kluay is different from a lot of my other work in that it was designed for the "Wide Screen" cinema, trying to get the feeling of a "Thai Epic". But still following the same simple "Shape Principles" of design. Designing for wide screen is fun, but challenging. At the time we were trying to make the compositions work for both the movie theaters, and the cut-off on people tv's at home. Bangkok, Thailand Khan Kluay Development 2

These keys would then be used to help guide the 3-d computer artists in building, and rendering the scenes. For me, shots like these are a road map to the film... you can see how each sequence develops emotionally. These are not actual scene "shots"... they merely represent a "Story point". From here the storyboard artists will have an idea of what the place they are designing story to is like... and what emotional cues I need to hit as a director.
