Day 50/365 - What is Her...
Day 50/365 - What is Her...
I'd love to say that I am always inspired when I shoot a self portrait, but it's not the case. Sometimes, I have less than 30 minutes to take and process a SP and I want to have some ideas collected for the future. So, I've been ripping photos out of magazines of poses or ideas that I'd like to try or are SOOO Marcy. Since it's part of my journey in becoming a better photographer, I thought I'd capture a series of me performing this task since I usually do it laying down and that is my technical lessons right now. The results were good but nothing was amazing. I had plenty of shots of me looking through the magazines and tearing them out. For the last few shots, I held up a torn page that displayed a woman in a gorgeous pose with fairly difficult lighting. I decided to try to convey, "I'm going to nail this shot" with my face. I didn't realize that the page was backwards and facing me, not the camera. I was about to delete it before I noticed the print at the bottom of the page held in my hand. "What is Her" What a perfect little mistake!! A self-portrait that explicitly poses the question (grammatically incorrect, but nonetheless a question) of the simplest but deepest nature, "Who is this woman?" I guess it's just the artist in me but it was such a treat that I highlighted the text, treated it in CS2 and decided to make it my post for day 50.
