    After big holidays in Thailand, Songkran festival, we have some updates to show that freedivers in Bangkok are still active!
    ผ่านพ้นวันหยุดยาวเทศกาลสงกรานต์ไปแล้ว ถึงเวลาอัพเดทข่าวคราวความเคลื่อนไหวของเหล่าฟรีไดเวอร์ในกรุงเทพฯ ในช่วงสองเดือนที่ผ่านมา..


     
    There were Mee, Chat, A, Ton, Nae, freedivers in Bangkok,
    and Aey, Thai freediver from Phuket
    discussing at the first Thailand Freediving meeting. 

    ในการประชุมวันนั้นประกอบไปด้วย
    หมี ชัช เอ ต้น เน ฟรีไดเวอร์จากกรุงเทพฯ
    และเอ ฟรีไดเวอร์จากภูเก็ต

    		 
    On March 12, 2012 
    There was the first serious meeting among Thai freedivers to discuss about AIDA Thailand that was kindly set up already but no Thais involved yet, also other possible future activities that could be done by local freedivers    .  

    We came up with many ideas to promote freediving in Thailand more, just wait and see... what will be our first event!

    As social network is a powerful way to spread the words, we finally have a Facebook page to tell people about freediving in Thailand.

    มีการนัดหมายรวมตัวของฟรีไดเวอร์ชาวไทยเป็นครั้งแรก เพื่อประชุมถึงเรื่อง AIDA ประเทศไทย ที่มีผู้จัดการก่อตั้งขึ้นนานแล้ว แต่ยังไม่มีคนไทยเข้าไปมีส่วนร่วมหรือดำเนินกิจกรรมให้เกิดผลประโยชน์แก่กีฬาฟรีไดวิ่งใดๆ  รวมถึงความเป็นไปได้ในการจัดกิจกรรมเกี่ยวกับฟรีไดวิ่งในอนาคต เพื่อส่งเสริมให้กีฬาประเภทนี้เป็นที่รู้จักในประเทศไทยมากขึ้น

    การประชุมถกถึงประเด็นต่างๆ ทำให้เกิดความคิดดีๆ ขึ้นมากมาย ...แต่คงต้องรอดูกันต่อไปว่าจะมีกิจกรรมใดที่อาจจะเกิดขึ้นจากฟรีไดเวอร์ในประเทศไทยเป็นกิจกรรมแรก

    On March 25, 2012
    5 freedivers from Bangkok, Chat, A, Tor Pairut, Nuntawat Luangaroon, and Lucas went to Sattahip, Chonburi province to enjoy some depth training at a well-known shipwreck dive site, Hardeep.

    They were lucky enough to see the wreck as the water was pretty clear. The depth was around 25-28 meters.

    It was also the first meeting among some new comers and active members.

    ฟรีไดเวอร์จากกรุงเทพฯ 5 คนนัดหมายกันไปฝึกซ้อมที่ทะเลสัตหีบ จังหวัดชลบุรี ได้แก่ ชัช เอ ต่อ นันทวัฒน์ และลูคัส การฝึกซ้อมดำน้ำแบบกลั้นหายใจในทะเลครั้งนี้เลือกดำกันที่จุดดำน้ำแหล่งเรือจมฮาร์ดีปที่เป็นที่รู้จักกันดีในหมู่นักดำน้ำ

    ในวันนั้นโชคดีเป็นพิเศษที่น้ำใส ทัศนวิสัยดี สามารถมองเห็นแหล่งเรือจมมุมกว้างได้จากเชือกทุ่นที่ปล่อยลงไป ระดับความลึกสูงสุดอยู่ประมาณ 25-28 เมตร

    การรวมตัวฝึกซ้อมกันในทะเลครั้งนี้ยังถือเป็นการแนะนำให้เหล่าสมาชิกฟรีไดเวอร์หน้าใหม่กับสมาชิกเก่าบางท่าน ได้พบปะพูดคุยแลกเปลี่ยนประสบการณ์กันเป็นครั้งแรก


     


    Practice makes perfect...
    Nae, Nippon and Lucas still practice regularly on Sunday mornings at Bankluay pool, around Ekkamai area in Bangkok.

    Their performance is getting in better shape. Nippon got her new static apnea PB's late last year more than 5 minutes, Lucas also broke his record again at 4'42" last month. Nae is also getting more comfortable with 3 minutes breath hold.


    การฝึกฝนบ่อยๆ ทำให้เก่งขึ้นมาได้...
    เน นิปปอน และลูคัสยังคงฝึกซ้อมที่สระว่ายน้ำกันเป็นประจำ ในวันอาทิตย์ตอนเช้าที่สระว่ายน้ำบ้านกล้วย แถวเอกมัย กรุงเทพมหานคร

    สถิติของแต่ละคนเริ่มพัฒนาอยู่ในฟอร์มที่ดีขึ้น  นิปปอนได้สถิติใหม่เมื่อปลายปีที่ผ่านมา สามารถกลั้นหายใจได้นานกว่า 5 นาที ลูคัสทำลายสถิติเดิมอีกครั้งเมื่อเดือนก่อน กลั้นหายใจได้นาน 4 นาที 42 วินาที เนก็เริ่มรู้สึกไม่อึดอัดเท่าไรกับการกลั้นหายใจนาน 3 นาทีโดยเฉลี่ยแล้ว

    He just took a freediving course last month at Koh Tao with 6 or more logged freedive sessions. Congratulations!

  • After the Andaman Freediving Challenge
The competion results and blog are here, and the overall results are below.

Unfortunately, the participation of our members was very limited... no one from Bangkok or Chiang Mai could go, and from Phuket only Walter managed to take part. He did a great static just above the 6' mark, thus winning that event: kudos!
Let's try to be more numerous next year!

  • Update in January 2012!
Hello everyone, here's a quick update for the first month of 2012! 

Welcome Lucas:
Lucas has been training with us lately since late last year.
He trains himself regularly both pool and depth.
He did a nice long static apnea of 4 minutes++.

22 January 2012, Still training...
We still do pool training regularly at Bankluay pool, Ekkamai, Bangkok, even more fun this weekend with a new underwater camera of Lucas.
Also caught some good shots and angle of Nae doing dynamic apnea without fins and with monofin.

Coming freediving competition:
There will be an annual freediving competition in Thailand soon on 8-12 February. Follow the link Andaman Freediving Competition 2012 and be prepared. Some of the people here will compete, too. But not sure if there are many Thai freedivers to compete.
